Summary
The two authors of this chapter have consistently and impressively defined the cutting edge for scholarship in the ways that in vivo neuroimaging correlates with overt behaviors. This chapter complements chapter 12, taking a somewhat different approach to crystalizing current knowledge regarding visualization of late post-concussive effects. Importantly, they eschew the recent convention that presumes a homogeneous effect of one or more concussive brain injuries (CBIs) on the brain. Just as CBIs are infinitely variable in biological phenomenology, so are images of survivor's brains. Still, one expects physiological overlap between cases, and, hopefully, sufficient systematicity to enable not only differentiation between normal and not-normal, but also, some day, a taxonomy of visible abnormalities with diagnostic or therapeutic implications.

Objective
Both physical activity (PA) and diet are important contributors to health and well-being; however, there is limited information on the association of these behaviours and whether observed associations differ by weight. The present study aimed to evaluate whether nutrient intake is associated with PA and if this association varies by weight in young adults.
DesignCross-sectional study to analyse the association between PA and nutrient intake.
SettingParticipants were stratified as normal weight (18·5 kg/m2 <BMI <25·0 kg/m2) and overweight/obese (BMI≥25·0 kg/m2). PA level (PAL) was calculated (PAL=total daily energy expenditure/RMR) and used to stratify groups (PAL<1·6, 1·6≤PAL<1·9, PAL≥1·9).
SubjectsAdults (n 407; age 27·6 (sd 3·8) years, 48 % male), with BMI between 20 and 35 kg/m2, having at least two 24 h diet recalls and at least 5 d (including two weekend days) of valid, objectively measured PA data were included in the analysis.
ResultsIn normal-weight participants, higher PAL was associated with higher intakes of minerals (except Ca, Fe and Zn), B-vitamins and choline (P for trend <0·05). In the overweight/obese group, higher PAL was associated with higher intakes of fibre, K, Na and Cu (P for trend <0·05). These differences, however, were no longer significant after additionally controlling for total energy intake.
ConclusionsMore active young adults have higher intakes of essential micronutrients. The benefits of PA may be predominantly due to a higher overall food intake while maintaining energy balance rather than a healthier diet.

This monograph summarizes the proceedings of a roundtable meeting convened to discuss pseudobulbar affect (PBA). Two didactic lectures were presented, followed by a moderated discussion among 11 participants. Post-meeting manuscript development synthesized didactic- and discussion-based content and incorporated additional material from the neuroscience literature. A conceptual framework with which to distinguish between disorders of mood and affect is presented first, and disorders of affect regulation are then reviewed briefly. A detailed description of the most common of these disorders, PBA, is the focus of the remainder of the monograph. The prevalence, putative neuranatomic and neurochemical bases of PBA are reviewed, and current and emerging methods of evaluation and treatment of persons with PBA are discussed. The material presented in this monograph will help clinicians better recognize, diagnose, and treat PBA, and will form a foundation for understanding and interpreting future studies of this condition.

Summary
Emotions and emotional feelings arise through the integrated processing of bodily sensations, environmental events, thoughts and recollections, and they shape new learning, facilitate decision-making, and guide behavior. Mood and affect have been defined in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) according to the durations of the emotions and emotional feelings comprising them. The development of functionally impairing pervasive and sustained disturbances of emotion and emotional feelings suggests a mood disorder such as major depression, dysthymia, mania, hypomania, or cyclothymia. Functionally impairing moment-to-moment disturbances of emotional expression and experience are disorders of affect. This category of clinical conditions includes disorders of affective excess such as pathological laughing and crying, pathological euphoria, essential crying, witzelsucht, and affective lability. The phenomenologies of emotional generation, expression, experience, and control reflect their putative neurobiologies. MacLean applied the principles of evolutionary neurobiology to the description of the limbic system and its function.

We present the preliminary results of a wide-field photometric survey of individual red giant branch (RGB) and asymptotic giant branch (AGB) stars in the M81 group, performed with the CFH12K mosaic camera of the CFHT. We use deep VI images of 0.65 sq. deg. of sky to map out the two-dimensional distribution of intragroup stars and to search for stars associated with the many HI tidal tails in the group. We place an upper limit on the presence of metal-poor RGB stars in a field located 50-80 kpc from M81, and derive an ‘intragroup’ fraction of < 2%. In a field sampling the M81-NGC3077 HI tidal tail, we find blue stars associated with some of the tidal features, including 2 clumps which we tentatively describe as tidal dwarf candidates. These objects are ~ 1 kpc in size, and, based on their color-magnitude diagrams, have formed stars as recently as ~ 30 – 70 Myr ago, long after the group's most recent interactions.
