In Our Own Words In Our Own Words
Student Writers at Work
Third Edition

Rebecca Mlynarczyk and Steven B. Haber

The third edition of this writing text retains its defining characteristic—the use of non-native student writing to teach writing. This feature makes the text easily accessible to and popular with students.

The first section, "Starting Out," consists of tasks that encourage students to explore ways of coping with common writing problems. Thereafter, readings serve as writing models and as the basis for discussion and text analysis. The second section, "Personal Writing," presents readings by student writers and essay assignments based on personal experience. The last section, "More Formal Writing," contains readings by both student and professional writers and essay assignments that require students to analyze their own experiences and attitudes in relation to a contemporary issue. Instruction on revising, editing, and grammar is integrated into each chapter.
