Introduction of Cambridge University Press

Cambridge University Press is the printing and publishing arm of the University of Cambridge. Established in 1534, it is the oldest publisher in the world. The Press is a charity organization and its purpose is to further, through publication, the University objective of advancing knowledge, education, learning, and research.

The Press currently develops some of the highest-quality English Language Teaching courses. Stringent editorial processes, meticulous research, and feedback from focus groups are all incorporated into publishing schedules before these courses reach the end-user.

Cambridge University Press in China

To strengthen the presence in China, the press established four representative offices in Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou in 1998. Each office, with the support of Cambridge University Press Asia based in Singapore, has a sales and marketing function, and works closely with its local agents, distributors and licensees.

Cambridge University Press Hong Kong office was set up in June 1998 and carries the following responsibilities:

  • Provide product and purchase information
  • Participate in book fairs and conference
  • Launching of new titles
  • Delivery of catalogues and other publicities
  • Handle inspection copy and desk copy request
  • Manage customer relationship
