About Cambridge University Press ELT
Cambridge University Press ELT was established in the mid 1970s, and within thirty years has become one of the world's leading publishers of ELT material.
Close collaboration between in-house editors, all of whom have teaching experience and qualifications, and the teaching profession, ensures the quality of Cambridge's ELT list. Extensive market research precedes the development of new materials which are then piloted in schools in many parts of the world. We produce not only books but cassettes/audio CDs, videos, CD-Roms and, increasingly, web-based materials.
Cambridge University Press Spain and Portugal
From its modern office in the financial heart of Madrid and from its sub-office in Barcelona, the Press's Iberian Branch manages sales to Spain and Portugal, and publishes for the whole Hispanic world. ELT representatives are based in most regions of Spain and Lisbon, and academic representatives operate out of the two offices. A warehouse near Madrid ensures that booksellers anywhere in the peninsula can receive most books in stock within two days of placing an order.
Having started purely as an ELT promotional operation, the Iberian Branch has grown to encompass academic and educational marketing, a sales and distribution function, and, since 1997, an editorial and publishing role. The publishing activity of the Branch concentrates almost entirely on producing courses for the local ELT schoolbooks market. These materials are co-published with Ediciones SM, a prestigious publishing house with which the Press established a strategic alliance in 2003.
Like all the Press's trading operations, without exception, the Iberian Branch is recognised by its host country as a 'not-for-profit' organisation.
