Family businesses

A. Are there many big family businesses in your country?
Do you know any family businesses?

B. Read the interview. Then answer the questions below.

Interviewer: Do you think that family businesses are successful today?
H: I think that most families are recreating their businesses. They are changing their style.
Interviewer: How are they changing?
H: Well firstly, many families are looking for money outside the company. They are becoming more open to joint ventures and strategic alliances.
Interviewer: What other important changes are they making?
H: Well, a lot are changing their management style. Many family companies are sending their relatives on management courses, or are recruiting outside managers to run the company.
Interviewer: Do you think that family companies are here to stay?
H: Yes, definitely. Most family businesses are very successful.
