Teacher's notes
Concentrate
on your student's pronunciation and intonation in this section.
The aim of this exercise is for students to learn common restaurant
expressions and to be able to respond appropriately to a waiter.
The
most important thing for the teacher is to focus on correct pronunciation.
(see B)
B.
The responses of the customer are as shown below. The order
of the dialog is flexible to some extent, but this is a suggested
order.
C.
When the students have finished putting the dialog in order,
the teacher should model and drill the pronunciation, particularly
problem areas.
D.
After the students have done this exercise, get them to role-play
the dialog without any reference to the written text. (As in the
Reading Task, Unit 13, it would be ideal to have some table items
for this, especially a menu, a plate and a check.)
