Michael McCarthy is Emeritus Professor of Applied Linguistics at the University of Nottingham, UK, Adjunct Professor of Applied Linguistics, at the Pennsylvania State University, USA, and Adjunct Professor of Applied Linguistics at the University of Limerick, Ireland. He is co director (with Ronald Carter) of the 5-million word CANCODE spoken English corpus project and the (co-)author and (co-)editor of more than 40 books and 80 academic articles. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. He has lectured on language and language teaching in 40 countries and been actively involved in ELT for 43 years.

Jeanne McCarten
Cambridge University Press
Jeanne McCarten taught English in Sweden, France, Malaysia, and the UK, before becoming a publisher with Cambridge University Press. She has many years experience of publishing ELT materials, specializing in the areas of grammar and vocabulary. She was also involved in the development of the CANCODE spoken corpus. Now a freelance writer, she is co-author of the corpus-informed course Touchstone and the forthcoming Grammar for Business, both published by Cambridge University Press.

Sarah Ellis
University of Cambridge ESOL

Sarah Ellis is Teacher Support Officer for Cambridge ESOL, Italy.  She has an extensive background in teaching and teacher training in both Italy and the UK and has taught English to students of all ages and levels. She has trained teachers on CELTA and DELTA courses and has also worked with teachers in the Italian State School system and on SSIS courses.  Sarah has been involved with Cambridge ESOL examinations for over 15 years as oral examiner, presenter and as Centre Examinations Manager.  She is responsible for the Cambridge ESOL teacher support programme for Italy which provides information, materials and support for teachers at seminars, conferences and events throughout Italy.

Ian Cook
University of Cambridge ESOL
Ian Cook (BA, CELTA, MA Applied Linguistics) has worked for Cambridge Assessment since January 2005 initially in Assessment and Operations at Cambridge ESOL, then as a Qualifications Manager responsible for managing A Level English Literature in the UK. He joined the Cambridge ESOL School Sector in March 2009, with the primary role of providing professional support to teachers in compulsory education. Prior to working for Cambridge Assessment, Ian taught English as a second language in Japan and in the UK and spent several years working at the University of North London (now London Metropolitan University).
