Cambridge products shortlisted for British Council Innovation Awards
Two Cambridge University Press products were nominated for the Oscars of the ELT world – the ELTons.
The Kid's Box DVD and Professional English Online both made the short list for the 2009 ELTon Innovation Awards, run by the British Council. The competition is sponsored by Cambridge ESOL and rewards outstanding and innovative new language resources.
This year, judges selected two very different Cambridge products: Professional English Online is a website that offers support and inspiration for Business English and ESP teachers. Some of the information on offer includes:
News and views
- Keep up-to-date with the world of professional English
- Hear what leading writers and teachers have to say on a range of Business English/ESP topics
- Find in-depth articles on what really matters in professional English today
Practical help
- Find ready-to-use activities from ELT specialists
- Download extra resources to support our Business English and ESP titles
Have your say
- Share your views on today's Business English/ESP issues
There is also a jargon buster, a book of the month, a competition and even a quote of the week.
Judge's comments: 'Dynamic and up-to-date environment and materials – very necessary in today’s business world. This is a great resource for the itinerant business teacher.'
Kid's Box DVD
The Kid's Box DVD is aimed at an entirely different English learner: this interactive DVD, part of the Kid's Box range, uses songs, activities, classroom games and documentaries featuring British school children to engage young learners. The DVD is not only for use with a DVD player but can be used with an interactive whiteboard or computer and projector.
