The new course for young learners of English

Dear Teachers

Welcome to the world of Nico, King Cat and Compo! These are the lively characters who will help your children understand and have fun with English through their songs, games and stories. They show young learners how to learn new words and encourage them to be confident about using English to talk, to sing and to understand and act out stories.

There are four levels of Primary Colours. The Starter Level is for children who are complete beginners at English and who may not yet be able to read or write in their mother tongue. Level 1 is for children who have some basic ability at reading and writing in their mother tongue and who know the English alphabet. Levels 2 and 3 build on the vocabulary and structures learnt in Level 1 and provide more adventures, songs and games to help all the children in the class feel that they are making progress in all four skills.

The clear, colourful pictures and stickers (in Starter and Level 1) support the children's learning as they build up confidence in speaking and listening. Gradually, supported by fun activities in the Activity Book and in the Pupil's Book, the children will start to read and write in English with their favourite characters.

The Teacher's Books are designed to be used by both inexperienced and experienced teachers. Starter, 1, and 2 have interleaved pages to help with all classroom teaching and the A-Z of teaching young learners builds up over the four levels into a useful reference methodology resource for teachers and trainers alike. The tests and extra practice material give you a chance to check how your pupils are progressing!

We are sure you and your pupils will really enjoy meeting Nico, King Cat and Compo and going on all their adventures through all the levels of Primary Colours! Are you ready?

Very best wishes
