The TKT Course

For trainers

The following free downloads are designed to offer you and your class the opportunity to consider some of the TKT topics in more detail. While The TKT Course is a complete preparation for the Teaching Knowledge Test, you may find that as you progress through the course, you have extra time to focus on areas of particular interest to your TKT candidates. Studying for the TKT is, after all, an opportunity to develop as a teacher, gain new insights and explore new ideas, as well as to gain a recognised qualification.

The selected activities include a combination of conventional exercises, scenarios for consideration, and classroom observation tasks. They are particularly useful for stimulating discussion, and encouraging trainees or recently qualified teachers to challenge their existing ideas and values about teaching. While many of the activities include open questions, with no 'correct' answers, there are also keys, commentaries and trainer's notes available to help you prepare for the activities and guide the lesson.

All of the downloadable activities are taken from the Cambridge Teacher Training and Development series
