Cambridge for ESOL/EAL - support for teachers
Adults and children learning English who live in the UK or Ireland have different needs from those on shorter visits aimed at improving their language skills. These differing needs are reflected by the fact that the learners themselves have come to be described differently - "visitors" are said to be studying English as a Foreign Language (EFL), while residents are referred to as ESOL learners if they're adults (English for Speakers of Other Languages) or EAL learners if they're under 16 (English as an Additional Language).
The Cambridge for ESOL site has loads of valuable information about teaching ESOL or EAL in the UK or Ireland, including useful links and details about Cambridge materials of particular interest.
If you're teaching adults, maps to the UK government's Adult ESOL Core Curriculum for face2face, Language in Use and Language Links can also be found here, and there's also more about the Skills for Life ESOL exams and the new ESOL for Work exams.
And for teaching teenagers, click below for more about the brand new Messages 1 EAL Teachers Resource CD-ROM!
