IELTS talk at the University of Bath, 20th May 2008

An evening with Cambridge ELT

Teaching your grandma to suck eggs or Teaching your grammar to success?
Incorporating grammar into the IELTS syllabus

The IELTS test provides scores in the four skill areas of Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. As a result, in many published IELTS materials, grammar input is only a secondary focus. Error analysis of students' work, however, suggests that a greater focus on targeted areas of grammar in an appropriate IELTS context may help students raise their level in all four of the modules.

In this talk, Diana Hopkins discusses how teachers can integrate grammar into their IELTS preparation courses, and provides a focus on specific grammatical areas needed for success at IELTS.
