Intermediate Unit 1: The Dimensions of Culture


The activity is suitable for students at B1 level (Intermediate). It can be used on its own, or with Business Advantage Intermediate.

This activity will give your students the opportunity to:

  • understand Geert Hofstede’s ‘dimensions of culture’
  • apply the principles of the dimensions
  • give advice on working in a different culture
  • discover how their country is scored

  • be able to discuss motivational factors
  • prioritise motivational factors for themselves and with a partner

Intermediate Unit 12: Talking About Numbers and Currencies


The activity is suitable for students at B1 level (Intermediate). It can be used on its own, or with Business Advantage Intermediate.

This activity will give your students the opportunity to:

  • recognise different currencies and learn their names and ISO codes
  • learn about the countries in the Eurozone
  • practice saying and writing numbers

Upper-intermediate Unit 1: Competitive Intelligence


The activity is suitable for students at B2 level (Upper-intermediate). It can be used on its own, or with Business Advantage Upper-intermediate, or with Cambridge English for Marketing.

This activity will give your students the opportunity to:

  • discuss the concept of competitive intelligence
  • read an article on Competitive Intelligence
  • hold a mini-presentation on these strategies and answer questions about them

Upper-intermediate Unit 3: Pay and Benefits


This activity is suitable for students at B2–C2 level (Upper-intermediate–Advanced). It can be used on its own, or with Business Advantage Upper-intermediate. Students discuss the importance to employees of pay and benefits, then complete a puzzle with words relating to pay and benefits. They then discuss the most appropriate combinations of benefits for individuals, and write up their recommendations.

The activity is suitable for students at B2 level (Upper-intermediate). It can be used on its own, or with Business Advantage Upper-intermediate.

This activity will give your students the opportunity to:

  • be familiar with project planning steps
  • understand which aspects of project planning belong to the different stages
  • be able to relate other projects to a project of this scope and scale

The activity is suitable for students at B2 level (Upper-intermediate). It can be used on its own, or with Business Advantage Upper-intermediate.

This activity will give your students the opportunity to:

  • structure a presentation into sections
  • learn how to make notes on index cards
  • practice writing out the presentation using signposting language

Upper-intermediate Unit 11: Income Statement


This activity is suitable for students at B2–C2 level (Upper-intermediate–Advanced). It can be used on its own, or with Business Advantage Upper-intermediate. Students will match the terms used in an income statement to their definitions. They will then analyse a company's income statement and write a report on the company's suitability for a loan.

Upper-intermediate Unit 11: Balance Sheets (American English)


This activity is suitable for students at B2–C2 level (Upper Intermediate–Advanced). It can be used on its own, or with Business Advantage Upper-intermediate. Students will learn and practise American English terms used in balance sheets. They will read through a balance sheet and correct a text based on it. they will analyse the balance sheet and discuss the results.

Upper-intermediate Unit 13: Corporate Social Responsibility


This activity is suitable for students at B2–C2 level (Upper-intermediate–Advanced). It can be used on its own, or with Business Advantage Upper-intermediate.

Students will read an authentic business text on Corporate Social Responsibility and practise working out the meaning of difficult vocabulary from context. They will then role-play a business meeting.
