Some of the best, most perfectly shaped shatter cones in the United States can be found in western Texas at the Sierra Madera impact structure about 30 km south of the town of Fort Stockton. This prize specimen shows a cluster of limestone shatter cones, some complete, others broken within a cluster about 110 mm in base dimension. All are pointing in the same direction which, in situ, would be toward the central uplift.
