The TNIV is a revision of the popular New International Version. Its changes to the NIV reflect modern biblical scholarship and shifts in the use of English.

Words with new meanings, such as 'aliens' and 'saints' have gone, and the language is gender-inclusive. Sections headings have been introduced, and there are changes to the name spellings and layout.
