Climate Change 2001: Synthesis Report

Edited by Robert T. Watson and the Core Writing Team

The Synthesis Report is the fourth and final part of the Third Assessment Report (TAR) of the IPCC. Summarising over 3000 pages of assessment and analysis, the Synthesis Report provides a synthesis of the IPCC’s recent Third Assessment Reports published in July 2001, as well as all other recent IPCC publications (all published by Cambridge University Press).

Illustrated in full colour throughout, the Synthesis Report addresses nine key policy-relevant questions, summarising the work and the findings of the IPCC. It is intended to assist governments in formulating appropriate adaptation and mitigation responses to the threat of human induced climate change, but will also form a useful reference text for students, teachers, researchers and the media.

With the ongoing debate about climate change and several countries’ reluctance to enter into agreement regarding the Kyoto Protocol, the Synthesis Report forms an essential addition to the bookshelves of anyone interested in environmental issues and climate change.
