About the course

Many students will have the skills and understanding to begin Higher 1 or Foundation 1 at the beginning of year 10. Others will need to use the transition book first, for topics they've not yet met or are not confident with. So you can give everyone the right start to key stage 4. What's more, the books are an economical size and you only buy what your student's need.

Strong student support

Transition books - Higher Transition and Foundation Transition - are for students who have followed any 'core' course in key stage 3 and need to cover or revise basic topics before they start either Foundation 1 or Higher 1. To help teachers select material according to students' needs, chapter sections estimated to be at national curriculum level 6 (or in a few cases level 5) are labelled as such.

Motivating student books

For the Foundation and Higher tiers there are two main students' books that offer:

Motivating materials that involve students actively in understanding new ideas
Objectives stated at the start of each chapter and questions for self-assessment at the end
Clear worked examples, review sections and real exam questions to build confidence
Non-calculator questions clearly marked

Plenty of practice

The transition and student books are supported by optional practice books that follow the structure of the main text, making it easy to organise extra practice, homework and revision.
