How do I install the software on my computer?
You do not have to install Bioscope on your computer. To make it easy for you to use all you have to do is to insert the CD in your computer's CD drive and it will start automatically. Nothing will be installed to your computer.
Do I have to install the software on my computer in order to use it?
No. It is not necessary to install the software.
Can the software be run over a network?
To make it easy to use the software is designed to run directly from your CD drive. It should be straightforward for a network administrator to copy all the files to a suitable mapped network drive for users to access. The Bioscope CD can be used on networks but not on intranets.
What software do I need on my computer to use Bioscope?
You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader 5 with search facility (preferred) or Adobe Reader. You will also need a word processing program such as Microsoft Word if you want to browse and view the Tasks documents in Word format.
Do I need a real microscope to use Bioscope?
No, you do not need a real microscope to use Bioscope.
Can I print out the slide images?
No, but you can take a copy of the entire Bioscope screen by pressing the ‘Print Screen’ key on your keyboard. You can then copy the screen into your word processing program and print out the image.
Can the tasks be edited?
Yes, all tasks are provided in two document formats: pdf files and Microsoft Word documents. The MS Word documents can be saved on your computer and can be edited to meet your teaching needs.
How does the search function work?
You can search for the tasks and slides in a number of ways using the search forms. There are two separate search forms: Slides Search Form and Tasks Search Form. Search options include searching by level (GCSE, IGCSE, O Level, AS Level and A Level), searching for tasks by slide, searching from a list of keywords or full text search, searching for slides by task and related topic search.
Does the Bioscope work on a Mac?
No, the Bioscope only works on PC.
