War with Troy

War with Troy: The Story of Achilles is a new 3 CD audio retelling of the Trojan War, specially created for children and particularly aimed at developing children's speaking, listening, and literacy skills. It was enthusiastically received by a wide range of children during pilot testing in the United Kingdom. Here are some of the children's comments:

'Every Friday I used to walk home telling my [mom] all about it, it was so fun.'

'It was great because you could picture it in your head as the CD was going on.'

'It makes you feel like you're in the story and you're one of the characters who is at that part of the story.'

War with Troy: The Story of Achilles starts with the marriage of Peleus and Thetis (the parents of Achilles) and ends with the fall of Troy. The CDs are divided into 12 episodes of about 15 minutes each (total running time approximately 3 hours). Each episode is further subdivided to provide pauses for discussion and review if desired. If used in a teaching and learning context, each episode provides sufficient material for an hour of classroom teaching.
