Description
Strategic Reading, second edition, is a three-level series designed to develop reading fluency through the study of authentic and adapted texts. Each level contains 12 thematic units with three reading passages adapted from authentic sources. The readings areskillfully adapted so that they are appropriate for their intended level. However, each reading retains the essential characteristics of the original with less and less adaptation as the levels go higher, with the readings in Level 3 only lightly adapted. The readings inspire plentiful pre- and post-reading discussion and build students' overall reading proficiency. Speed reading tasks help students build their overall reading fluency. The Teacher's Manuals provide a model lesson plans, teaching suggestions, cultural notes, additional vocabulary notes, and quizzes for each unit.
