If you cannot save your notes and example sentences in My Vocabulary Notebook, download one of these files.
Follow these instructions to update the software:
- Close the Touchstone application if it is open.
- Find the link above for your Touchstone level.
- For Windows users right-click on the link and select "Save Target As..." or "Save Link As..." Choose where you would like to save the file and click "Save."
- For Mac users either hold down the apple or control key and click on the link or click on the link and hold. A menu will appear. Click on "Download Linked File" and choose where you wish to save it.
- When downloading finishes, locate the file. Double-click it. (You will need a zip file utility. If you do not already have one, download a trial version of WinZip for Windows or the trial version of Stuffit for a Mac.)
- In a new window, go to the Touchstone "media" subfolder.
- It is likely to be located on a Windows machine at C:\Program Files\Touchstone X\media, where X is the Touchstone level number.
- On a Mac it will likely be located at Macintosh HD\Applications\Touchstone X\media, where X is the Touchstone level number.
- Drop the files from the .zip folder into the Touchstone "media" subfolder replacing the existing files of the same name.
- Resart the Touchstone application.

For Mac users only
One version of the Touchstone Level 1 Audio CD/CD-ROM cannot record your speaking responses if you don't have the proper level of privilege on a networked Macintosh computer. To enable the recording function without adjusting your level of privilege, you will need to download a file.
Follow these instructions to update the software:
- Close the Touchstone application if it is open.
- Find the link above labled listenspeak.dxr and click on it. Select where you want to save it and click Save. You can also download the .zip file and retrieve the .dxr file from there.
- Open up your Touchstone "media" subfolder, likely located at Macintosh HD\Applications\Touchstone X\media, where X is the Touchstone level number.
- Replace the old .drx file with the new one.
- Resart the Touchstone application.
