The postwar map, Figure 7.5, shows that nearly all of the coffee trees on the hill were destroyed during the war, as the guerrilla encampment there was frequently attacked. The Cooperativa El Jobalito planted corn in the lower skirts of the hill and claimed nearly the entire hill at the war's end. On this map, the author wrote Grasias por un recuedo de mi trabajo, which means, "Thank you for a remembrance of my work," thereby reminding me to return the map as I had promised and to claim both the redrawing of boundaries through land occupation and the literal drawing of the map as his work. click a quadrant for enlargement ![]() |
