A History of the Book in America

A History of the Book in America

A History of the Book in America is a five-volume interdisciplinary and collaborative history of the book in American culture from the earliest days of European settlement to the present day. As a principal activity of the American Antiquarian Society's Programme in the History of the Book in American Culture, its main aim is to advance a field of scholarship that has become central to literary, cultural and social history. The project brings together histories of printing, publishing and book distribution with literary, learned and popular forms of culture.
