The Annual Conference on South Asia
Welcome
Hello and welcome! We hope that you and families are keeping well in the era of social distancing. In light of COVID-19 we've decided to take our exhibit stands online. It’s not like being at the event in person, but we hope it offers at least some semblance of normality during this challenging time. Below you will find a list of the books we would have had on display, as well as information on who to contact if you are interested in publishing with us. We've also increased our online discount so that being at home doesn't mean you have to miss out on conference prices, if you're in the market for a good book that is. If not, then perhaps just close your eyes for a moment and pretend you’re in the exhibit hall, about to head off to the wine reception or grab a coffee….
And now that you've got yourself that all important drink, how about a quick word from one of our editors:

Message from the Editor
We are very sorry not to be seeing you all in person at the Conference on South Asia this year – but I am pleased to invite you to browse this virtual exhibit. As ever, we have an exciting collection of new titles. These include Annie Zaidi’s moving exploration of the meaning of home, Bread, Cement, Cactus, winner of the 2019-20 Nine Dots Prize, available in paperback and Open Access. Also available Open Access we have Nandini Chatterjee’s Negotiating Mughal Law and Pritipuspa Mishra’s Language and the Making of Modern India. I’m delighted to announce that Uditi Sen’s Citizen Refugee, Jessica Hinchy’s Governing Gender and Sexuality in Colonial India, and Emma Flatt’s The Courts of the Deccan Sultanates (amongst other titles) are now available in paperback. Please do take a look at Ronit Ricci’s insightful Banishment and Belonging and Ishita Pande’s innovative Sex, Law and the Politics of Age. We also have two great new texts for classroom use: The Making of the Indo-Islamic World by Andrew Wink and Islam and Asia by Chiara Formichi. Finally, many congratulations to Shinjini Das on winning the BSHS 2020 Pickstone Prize with Vernacular Medicine in Colonial India!
I hope you enjoy browsing the books (all of which are available with a 30% discount), and this comes with very best wishes to our authors and readers in these difficult times.
