Academic Encounters
Second Edition
Academic Encounters Second edition is a paired skills series with a sustained content approach to teach skills necessary for taking academic courses in English.
There are two books in the series for each content focus: Reading and Writing books that teaches reading, study skills, and writing, and Listening and Speaking books that concentrates on developing students’ listening, note-taking, and discussion skills. Critical academic skills help students succeed in college. Readings mirror university textbooks, ensuring that students not only practice reading authentic texts, but also receive an authentic university experience. Listening activities are based on academic lectures created using transcripts of actual classroom lectures. The two books may be used independently, or they may be used together to form a complete integrated-skills course. Reading and Writing Student's Book includes access to Writing Skills Interactive, an online course with instruction and practice across a range of discrete writing skills and an eBook. The Listening and Speaking Student’s Book includes access to an eBook and downloadable audio and video.
