Making the Most of Blended Learning
Date: Tuesday 10 November
Time: 15:00
With the advent of online components of main courses, teachers have a wonderful new set of resources to exploit. But, as with any innovations, blended learning involves changes in practice and teachers who are faced with decisions on how to construct and manage blended learning programs can feel uncertain or even daunted. The presenters will consider what the implementation of fully blended learning materials can mean for the teacher’s role, the classroom, and the learner and offer insights and tips for getting the most out of truly blended materials. Extracts from their work on Touchstone and Viewpoint will be used as examples.
Jeanne McCarten and Helen Sandiford are both authors of Touchstone. Jeanne taught English in Sweden, France, Malaysia and the UK before becoming an ELT writer, and is interested in applying insights from corpus research to language teaching. Helen has extensive teacher and teacher training experience having spent nine years in Japan setting up English programs, and teaching in Japanese senior high schools and vocational colleges.
