Other initiatives, such as the Mental Illness Awareness Week on Oct. 1-7, 2017, are raising awareness of mental illness, fighting stigma and advocating for equal care.<\/p>\n<p>As part of this global efforts, <a href=\"http:\/\/cambridge.org\/eps\"><em>Epidemiology and Psychiatric Sciences (EPS)<\/em><\/a> has been publishing highly relevant and innovative research articles and systematic reviews in the areas of public mental health and policy, mental health services, health systems research, and epidemiological and social psychiatry.<\/p>\n<p>The following <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cambridge.org\/core\/browse-subjects\/psychology\/honoring-mental-illness-awareness-week-and-world-mental-health-day\">selection of articles<\/a> is an example of this effort. Priority is given to epidemiologically relevant mental health conditions and topics, such as for example the mental health of civilians displaced by armed conflict, the prevalence of mental disorders in children and adolescents, the frequency of mental health conditions in vulnerable populations, the challenging issue of under-recognition of mood disorders, the epidemiology of stigma, the development of new strategies for scaling up services for psychosis, depression and epilepsy in low- and middle-income countries, and many others. In addition to Original Articles, <em>EPS<\/em> publishes Editorials, Special Articles and Commentaries that offer a forum for discussion and an opportunity for putting research findings into perspective.<\/p>\n<p><em>EPS<\/em> strongly believes that in the field of mental, neurological and substance use disorders the greatest benefit in the next decades will derive from providing better care based on current knowledge.
