Ester Eidinow, Chair of the Classical Association’s Journals Board, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Greta both to Classical Review and to the CA Journals team; we’re very much looking forward to working with her!”

Greta Hawes is DECRA fellow and Senior Lecturer in Classics and Ancient History at the Australian National University. Her research interests lie in the area of Greek myth and ancient uses of narrative. She’s just finished up a project looking at how stories and landscapes interact in Imperial Greece through the lens of Pausanias’ Guide. She begins as joint commissioning editor with Classical Review in February 2021.

“I’m really looking forward to learning the ropes from Roger, Gesine and Clare,” says Greta. “Books really are the backbone of research in Classical Studies and the work of reviewing is so crucial to our disciplines. A good book review should be able to not only give the reader a sense of whether or not she should read the book, but also perhaps how to read it – what to keep in mind and what to read alongside it.

“Reviewing can feel a little thankless at times, but taken together reviews help us all keep our heads above water in the sea of our constantly transforming fields. I’m proud to be associated with Classical Review and keen to explore new ways that we can help researchers and teachers. I’d like to see whether it’s possible to produce reviews of born-digital projects, for example.”

[13,6
212,1897,56,359
5422
post-40154","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-classics","category-humanities","tag-classical-association","tag-classical-studies","tag-classics-2","tag-the-classical-review
["GET
