This appendix details the survey questions used to construct the variables used in the analysis of candidate behavior, with particular attention to questions asked in the 1999 round (the 1995 survey is similar, but omits some questions as discussed in the text). Questions that were not used in the analysis, as well as those capturing basic demographic information (interview number, region), are omitted for space considerations.
