Recent and revised modules

Going into private or medico-legal practice

When setting up in private or medico-legal practice it is not enough to show willing and charge money. This module will teach you about some of the common pitfalls when starting up a practice and why you may be in danger of breaking the law if you do not know what you are doing. You will learn how to make what you do pleasurable, lawful and profitable and gain a good understanding of the laws and conventions of the field. CPD Credits: 1

Psychiatric intensive care

Psychiatric intensive care units (PICUs) are hospital wards for the short-term management of people in an acutely disturbed (often aggressive) phase of a serious mental disorder. Patients are usually detained under the Mental Health Act. This module describes what a PICU is and how it differs from other wards, and considers common clinical and demographic features of PICU patients and best clinical practice in the PICU.
