A forensic study of Sigmund Freud's couch revealed this hair, possibly left behind by one of his many visitors. Artists Broomberg and Chanarin transformed it through use of radiographic quartz imaging into a striking tapestry that draped the renowned couch as part of the exhibition, Every Piece of Dust. The forensic analysis parallels the process of psychoanalysis through the objective scrutiny of small but fundamental details in order to both build and break down a story. The Persian rug which covered Freud's couch throughout its time in use provided the perfect setting for this fresh perspective on examination and reflection.
