The New Zealand Working Group is based in the Bioethics Centre at the University of Otago and composed of faculty from the country's two medical schools, the University of Auckland School of Medicine and the University of Otago Faculty of Medicine.
New Zealand has two medical schools. Bioethics is taught at the Auckland School of Medicine by Dr Monique Jonas and Dr Phillipa Malpas. At the University of Otago the bioethics curriculum is taught by staff from the Bioethics Centre and the Wellington School of Medicine. At present the ethics curriculum at Otago is being revised. The first phase of this, which involved writing an outcome map for the curriculum, has been completed. The New Zealand working group will meet within the next twelve months so as to identify a set of common goals.
