A review of the pine-feeding Lithophane lepida species group (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), with descriptions of two new species

Abstract

The species of the Lithophanelepida Grote complex are reviewed and two new species of the genus Lithophane Hübner from western North America are described. Adults of all species are illustrated, as well as male and female genitalia (where known) and larva of L.lepida and Lithophane itata (Smith). A key to species of the L. lepida group is provided.

Résumé

On trouvera ici une synopsis des six espèces du complexe Lithophanelepida Grote dont les larves s'alimentent sur les pins et dont deux sont nouvellement décrites de l'ouest de l'Amérique du Nord. Les adultes et les pièces génitales des deux sexes (si connu) de toutes les espèces sont illustrés de même que les larves de L. lepida et Lithophane itata (Smith). Une clé des espèces du complexe L. lepida est incluse.
