This issue, being the final one of 2013, provides us as Editors an opportunity to thank all of those closely involved with the production of the JLO. This dedicated team work tirelessly throughout the year to bring you the finished product in all of its forms.

This year has seen the departure of Guy Kenyon from the Journal staff. Guy was Joint Editor of the JLO for many years, firstly with Neil Weir and more recently with Robin Youngs. Guy's vision for the JLO has come to fruition, particularly regarding the development of the JLO website and the electronic archive, and we thank him for his many years of service, during which time the JLO was a major part of his professional life.

Our great appreciation goes to Rosamund Greensted, the JLO's Managing Editor. Rosamund has been assisted by Iona Copley, Ruth Evans, Lisa Colledge, Louise Venables and Theresa Clarke. During the past year, Iona and Lisa have moved on and we thank them sincerely for all their efforts and wish them well for the future. In addition, the JLO Company Secretary, Patrick Broadhurst, steps down in the early part of 2014 and we thank Patrick for his work on behalf of the Journal. Our publishing partners, Cambridge University Press, led by Dan Edwards and Susan Perkins, also deserve great credit.

Without a creditable peer review process the Journal would collapse, and we thank all of our Assistant Editors for the work undertaken assessing the many hundreds of articles received by the Journal each year.

We have been delighted at the success of our collaboration with the Australian Society of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. Simon Carney, as the Editor of the Australian Supplement, has done fantastic work in getting this collaboration established. Simon will be standing down as Australian Supplement Editor in the near future, and we look forward to working with whoever succeeds him.

We look forward to 2014 with anticipation. We will continue to develop the JLO in all of its forms, particularly electronic, to generate a product attractive to ENT folk of all kinds.
