MRS Advances Call for Papers: Predictive Synthesis and Advanced Characterization of Emerging Quantum Materials
MRS Advances Materials for Quantum Technology
Issue date: Spring 2020
Submission deadline: December 18, 2019
MRS Advances is accepting full-paper submissions on Nanoscale and Quantum Materials topics related to the symposium topic Predictive Synthesis and Advanced Characterization of Emerging Quantum Materials from the 2019 MRS Fall Meeting. Submissions, the review process, and the final decision are not contingent on presentation at the meeting itself.
MRS Advances publishes short papers that provide a “snapshot” of an advance within the field of materials research. Such work may include important early indications from a research project that has not yet reached a conclusion, or related results that are significant but not central to the goal of the project. The scientific methods and logic should be rigorous, technically sound, and of interest to other specialists in the area of research.
Of particular interest are topics in Predictive Synthesis and Advanced Characterization of Emerging Quantum Materials:
• Bulk materials growth of topological insulators and semimetals to explore the nontrivial topology to materials functional properties.
• Synthesis of novel correlated materials, such as unconventional superconducting materials and quantum spin liquids.
• High-precision growth of thin films and heterostructures toward spintronic materials applications using molecular beam epitaxy.
• Chemical vapor deposition of two-dimensional materials for fundamental quantum properties exploration.
• State-of-the-art photoemission spectroscopies and their role for bandstructure studies.
• State-of-the-art X-ray scattering to explore the interplay between the charge, spin and orbital degrees of freedom.
• Neutron scattering measurement to study the magnetic properties and exotic excitations in materials.
• Femtosecond to attosecond ultrafast free electron laser for materials properties far away from equilibrium.
• Unconventional emerging materials characterization methods.
To be considered for MRS Advances, new and previously unpublished results significant to the development of this field should be presented. The manuscripts must be submitted via the MRS Advances electronic submission system by December 18, 2019.
EARLY SUBMISSION OPPORTUNITY: Submissions received by October 1, 2019 and accepted for publication by November 18, 2019, will get limited-time free access to MRS member and non-members alike upon publication, and promotion onsite at the MRS meeting, to appropriate symposia and at the MRS-Cambridge University Press Publications booth.
All manuscripts will be reviewed in the standard rapid timeframe of MRS Advances to ensure timely publication in the issue related to the submission topic. Please see manuscript preparation instructions, length restrictions, and the required template for submission at www.mrs.org/mrs-advances-manuscript-instructions. At submission, indicate Nanoscale and Quantum Materials as the topical area of your paper.
