This year marks the 40 year celebration as a premier journal in the field of Second Language Study. As a way of honoring 40 years of scholarly leadership to the field, Cambridge University Press will recognize one article per month and will post that article on the SSLA website, where possible, accompanied by a video by the author(s).
Twelve articles were selected by current and past Editorial Board members (excluding the current co-editors) who were invited to submit their recommendations of articles appearing in the journal since its inception 40 years ago. Specifically, they were asked to recommend articles that were groundbreaking or highly influential to the field of SLA research. Those articles that received the most recommendations were selected to be featured during SSLA’s 40th year celebration of excellence in the field.
