BJPsych Deputy Editor of Systematic Reviews


Salary: Voluntary Role

We are looking for a Deputy Editor of Systematic Reviews to join the BJPsych Editorial Board. This involves:

  • Reviewing and handling Systematic Reviews submitted to BJPsych
  • Ad hoc advice
  • Advise the board/EiC of updates to standards or editorial policy
  • Commission Systematic Reviews to be submitted to the journal


The Systematic Reviews Editor will be joining a long-standing panel and offered mentorship and development support.

The Systematic Reviews Editor will become a member of the Editorial Board of BJPsych (role description here). We encourage the successful application to attend board meetings (these are held around three times a year), either in person or remotely.

We are aiming to find the person who is most suited to the role and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, including gender, age and ethnicity. We want an editorial board that reflects our values of equality and diversity with representation from a range of backgrounds. Therefore, we particularly encourage applications from underrepresented groups in academic psychiatry.

Required:

  • Experience handling and processing Systematic Reviews for a journal
  • A genuine interest and extensive knowledge of Systematic Review policies
  • Experience of collegial and collaborative team work
  • Record of publishing and peer-reviewing mental health research, including Systematic Reviews


Desirable:

  • Record of peer-reviewing for BJPsych
  • Experience in handling papers via a submission system

Recruitment Process:

  • CV and cover letter circulated to Editor-in-Chief to confirm entry requirements are met
  • Consultation with EiC and Deputy Editors
  • Systematic Reviews Editors are recruited for a term of 3 years, subject to annual review and an initial probation period of 6 months. Terms can be extended at the discretion of the Editor-in-Chief
