Call for Papers - Biomedical Applications and Biological Implications of Wireless Power Transfer Systems

A Special Issue of Wireless Power Transfer

Radio Frequency (RF) and Microwave (MW) technologies are becoming increasingly important for biomedical applications. Among these technologies, Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) systems are critically important for a variety of reasons. They play a fundamental role in energetic autonomy, mobility, comfort, size requirements, implantability and wearability. Our understanding of the interaction between RF/MW fields and biological systems is emerging fast, encouraging the deeper investigation of the potential of WPT systems in the context of biological implications or exploitation.

Wireless Power Transfer journal (https://www.cambridge.org/core/journals/wireless-power-transfer) is launching a new special issue focused on the applications of WPT (far-field and near-field) in biomedical engineering, as well as their biological implications. It will also be open to contributions in related research areas, such as those which could be considered building blocks for the next generation of WPT systems for biomedical applications, and for analysis of the interaction between electromagnetic power and tissues.

On behalf of the editorial board, we invite contributions (original articles or review papers) on the subjects. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Wireless power transfer for biomedical and biological sensors and actuators
  • Wireless power transfer for wearable and implantable bioelectronics
  • Measurements and characterization of medical and biological WPT systems
  • Biological effects from wireless power
  • Electromagnetic biocompatibility of WPT systems
  • Dosimetry of WPT systems
  • Modelling of the interaction between WPT and living systems
  • Standardization and regulations of WPT systems
  • WPT for mobile and personal devices
  • WPT for distributed sensors, IoT and home automation related to biological effects or medical applications

This special issue will prove valuable for both the scientific and industrial community. All papers will be fully peer reviewed and published in Wireless Power Transfer. Deadline for submission is 31st March 2019.
