The journal Annales - founded in 1929 - has recently been launched as a journal in English, and online, in collaboration with Cambridge University Press. This event will consider the journal's current orientation in historical research, and the possibilities that its operation in English offers to scholars in the UK, especially those in early stages of their lives as historians. The panel include Annales' editor, the project's manager, and historians with reflections on the legacy and prospects of histories inspired by Annales:
- For Annales: Etienne Anheim and Nicolas Barreyre
- On Annales: Matthew Champion, Colin Jones, Miri Rubin, and Anne Simonin
There will be an occasion for discussion and tea will follow.
In 2012 the Annales editorial team began the process of translating every new article into English in an effort to develope historiographical change and support international dialogue. From 2017, a new partnership between Éditions EHESS and Cambridge University Press will ensure that this English edition is available globally both online and, for the first time, in print.
