This work presents visual morphological and dynamical classifications for 637 spatially resolved galaxies, most of which are at intermediate redshift (z ∼ 0.3), in the Middle-Ages Galaxy Properties with Integral field spectroscopy (MAGPI) Survey. For each galaxy, we obtain a minimum of 11 independent visual classifications by knowledgeable classifiers. We use an extension of the standard Dawid-Skene Bayesian model introducing classifier-specific confidence parameters and galaxy-specific difficulty parameters to quantify classifier confidence and infer reliable statistical confidence estimates. Selecting sub-samples of 86 bright (r < 20 mag) high-confidence (> 0.98) morphological classifications at redshifts (0.2 ≤ z ≤ 0.4), we confirm the full range of morphological types is represented in MAGPI as intended in the survey design. Similarly, with a sub-sample of 82 bright high-confidence stellar kinematic classifications, we find that the rotating and non-rotating galaxies seen at low redshift are already in place at intermediate redshifts. We do not find evidence that the kinematic morphology-density relation seen at z ∼ 0 is established at z ∼ 0.3. We suggest that galaxies without obvious stellar rotation are dynamically pre-processed sometime before z ∼ 0.3 within lower mass groups before joining denser environments.

Galaxy gas kinematics are sensitive to the physical processes that contribute to a galaxy’s evolution. It is expected that external processes will cause more significant kinematic disturbances in the outer regions, while internal processes will cause more disturbances for the inner regions. Using a subsample of 47 galaxies ($0.27<z<0.36$) from the Middle Ages Galaxy Properties with Integral Field Spectroscopy (MAGPI) survey, we conduct a study into the source of kinematic disturbances by measuring the asymmetry present in the ionised gas line-of-sight velocity maps at the $0.5R_e$ (inner regions) and $1.5R_e$ (outer regions) elliptical annuli. By comparing the inner and outer kinematic asymmetries, we aim to better understand what physical processes are driving the asymmetries in galaxies. We find the local environment plays a role in kinematic disturbance, in agreement with other integral field spectroscopy studies of the local universe, with most asymmetric systems being in close proximity to a more massive neighbour. We do not find evidence suggesting that hosting an Active Galactic Nucleus contributes to asymmetry within the inner regions, with some caveats due to emission line modelling. In contrast to previous studies, we do not find evidence that processes leading to asymmetry also enhance star formation in MAGPI galaxies. Finally, we find a weak anti-correlation between stellar mass and asymmetry (i.e., high stellar mass galaxies are less asymmetric). We conclude by discussing possible sources driving the asymmetry in the ionised gas, such as disturbances being present in the colder gas phase (either molecular or atomic) prior to the gas being ionised, and non-axisymmetric features (e.g., a bar) being present in the galactic disk. Our results highlight the complex interplay between ionised gas kinematic disturbances and physical processes involved in galaxy evolution.

In this work, we present a methodology and a corresponding code-base for constructing mock integral field spectrograph (IFS) observations of simulated galaxies in a consistent and reproducible way. Such methods are necessary to improve the collaboration and comparison of observation and theory results, and accelerate our understanding of how the kinematics of galaxies evolve over time. This code, SimSpin, is an open-source package written in R, but also with an API interface such that the code can be interacted with in any coding language. Documentation and individual examples can be found at the open-source website connected to the online repository. SimSpin is already being utilised by international IFS collaborations, including SAMI and MAGPI, for generating comparable data sets from a diverse suite of cosmological hydrodynamical simulations.

Several studies provided evidence that relationship of cognitive impairment with social functioning is stronger than that of psychopathology. In a group of 88 subjects with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorders we found that verbal memory, executive function and sustained attention indices explained 19.9% of the global disability variance, while negative symptoms explained 4.4% of the variance.

Based on these data our group designed an individualized rehabilitation program including two one-hour sessions of computerized cognitive training and one two-hour session of social skills training per week (Social Skills And Neurocognitive Individualized Training, SSANIT).

In the present study the efficacy of this rehabilitation program was investigated in 58 subjects with chronic schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder. Patients were recruited in three Mental Health Departments located in the South of Italy and randomly allocated to one of two rehabilitation programs: SSANIT or Usual Rehabilitation Activities (URA) of each department. The active treatment phase lasted 6 months.

At the end of treatment a significant improvement of psychosocial functioning (global psychosocial index, participation in family life and availability to work) was found in the SSANIT but not in the URA group; furthermore a worsening of the negative dimension was observed in the URA, but not in the SSANIT group.

According to our findings, the SSANIT program is more effective than the rehabilitation activities usually implemented in Mental Health Departments (e.g. carpentry and decoupage).

Quelles sont les valeurs qui caractérisent sur le territoire français les rayonnements ionisants et les radionucléides d'origine naturelle ? Comment distinguer dans le résultat d'une mesure la part qui résulte éventuellement d'une activité humaine ? Afin d'essayer de répondre à ces questions, un questionnaire a été adressé aux différents organismes qui effectuent en France des mesures de radioactivité dans l'environnement. Les informations mentionnées dans cette étude se rapportent exclusivement à des observations faites dans l'environnement à l'extérieur des bâtiments et du périmètre des installations nucléaires de base (INB). En outre, elles ne concernent, sauf cas particuliers signalés, que des mesures de rayonnements ou de radioéléments d'origine naturelle dont les résultats n'ont pas été perturbés par l'action de l'homme. L'enquête montre la difficulté actuelle de dresser en France un bilan exhaustif des connaissances acquises concernant les caractéristiques du bruit de fond radioactif d'origine naturelle dans l'environnement. Aujourd'hui en France, dans le domaine de la radioactivité naturelle, les efforts consentis manquent de coordination et d'orientation vers certaines priorités. À ce titre, les mesures des 238U et 232Th précurseurs des 226Ra et 228Ra, des descendants solides émetteurs alpha du radon (par la mesure des EAP du 222Rn et 220Rn), des émetteurs gamma post émanation (214Pb, 214Bi, 212Pb), du 210Pb, 210Po et du 14C doivent être privilégiées.

This paper presents a systematic investigation of thermal stability of high-k materials deposited on RCA cleaned wafers by ALCVD™ in an ASM Pulsar™ 2000 reactor. Physical-chemical evolution of Al2O3, HfO2 and Al/Hf composite materials (nanolaminate and aluminates) was studied considering two types of thermal treatments: quenched vacuum anneals from 300°C to 900°C and furnace atmospheric processes in N2 or O2 at 850°C and 900°C. Material crystallization and changes in film structure were studied by means of TEM, XRD, XRR, XRF, RBS and TOF-SIMS. Non-contact electrical measurements were used to detect modification in EOT and fixed charge. Al2O3 was found still amorphous at 900°C. Not so for HfO2 that crystallized in monoclinic phase at a temperature between 300–400°C. Crystallization temperature and possible phase separation of Al/Hf composite materials were found to be a function of Al2O3 content and film type. In most of these samples, however, a chemical evolution was detected in addition to the above reported crystallization phenomena. All the achieved results demonstrate that depending on thermal treatment conditions, ALCVD™ high-k stability does not only concern phase transition effects but also a transformation of the “SiO2/high-k” system into “doped-SiO2/silicate” stack.

Thin films of W were grown using the low pressure chemical-vapour deposition technique in WF6/SiH4 flow on a TiN layer obtained by annealing in nitrogen atmosphere Ti films for different times. The investigation of W nucleation was followed by Atomic Force Microscopy in air. The Atomic Force images taken after fixed time of exposure of the TiN layer to the WF6/SiH4 flow show, on the surface of the W films, the presence of columnar structures only when the TiN films were obtained with forming times below 100 minutes. To investigate this effect X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy depth profile and X-Ray Diffraction measurements were performed on the obtained W/TiN films. The results show the deeper penetration of the nitrogen into the titanium layer with the longer forming time and a non stoichiometric composition of TiN interfacial layer which strongly influences the W nucleation.

ONO (SiO2/Si3N4/SiO2) structures with thickness less than 10 nm were deposited onto silicon wafers by successive steps using two different method. The effects of the forming time and temperature on the stoichiometry of the single layers and of the whole sandwich have been studied using X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS). This paper demonstrates that the “Auger parameter method” is highly suitable in quantifying the composition of very thin insulating structures.
