Objectives/Goals: Pregnancy increases vulnerability to stress and mental health symptoms, particularly among Hispanic women in Puerto Rico (PR), a population with unique socioenvironmental adversities, such as poverty and natural disasters. This study examined the relationships between life adversities and psychological distress in this at-risk population. Methods/Study Population: Participants (n = 50) in this cross-sectional study were recruited from an obstetrician’s office in Southern PR. All participants provided written consent and completed the Adverse Life Experiences Scale (ALES, Cronbach’s alpha = 0.71) to identify lifelong adversities faced and the overall duration (chronicity). Measures of psychological distress included the Perinatal Anxiety Screening Scale (PASS, Cronbach’s alpha = 0.96), the Edinburg Postnatal Depression Scale (EDPS, Cronbach’s alpha = 0.87), the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS, Cronbach’s alpha = 0.79), and the Brief Resilience Scale (BRS, Cronbach’s alpha = 0.86). Descriptive and Spearman’s rho correlation analyses were conducted. Results/Anticipated Results: The mean age of the participants was 27.90 years (SD = 6.05), with most in the first trimester (66.0%). On average, participants reported 4.32 (SD = 3.1) out of 23 lifetime adversities. The most common adversities were natural disasters (60.0%), loss of a beloved (58.0%), and financial difficulties (38.0%). Nearly half (44.0%) experienced five or more adversities. A significant number of participants met the clinical threshold for anxiety (38.0%, PASS), depression risk (22.0%, EPDS), moderate-to-severe perceived stress (52.0%, PSS), and low resilience (24.0%, BRS). The overall duration of adversities was significantly associated with anxiety (rs = 0.50, p = 0.001) and stress (rs = 0.50, p = 0.007). Discussion/Significance of Impact: Hispanic pregnant women in PR face high levels of adversity and distress, which can negatively affect both maternal health and fetal development, influencing long-term child outcomes. Early identification and targeted interventions addressing adversities, can improve maternal mental health and child health-development outcomes.

Galaxy Zoo is an online project to classify morphological features in extra-galactic imaging surveys with public voting. In this paper, we compare the classifications made for two different surveys, the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) imaging survey and a part of the Kilo-Degree Survey (KiDS), in the equatorial fields of the Galaxy And Mass Assembly (GAMA) survey. Our aim is to cross-validate and compare the classifications based on different imaging quality and depth. We find that generally the voting agrees globally but with substantial scatter, that is, substantial differences for individual galaxies. There is a notable higher voting fraction in favour of ‘smooth’ galaxies in the DESI+zoobot classifications, most likely due to the difference between imaging depth. DESI imaging is shallower and slightly lower resolution than KiDS and the Galaxy Zoo images do not reveal details such as disc features and thus are missed in the zoobot training sample. We check against expert visual classifications and find good agreement with KiDS-based Galaxy Zoo voting. We reproduce the results from Porter-Temple+ (2022), on the dependence of stellar mass, star formation, and specific star formation on the number of spiral arms. This shows that once corrected for redshift, the DESI Galaxy Zoo and KiDS Galaxy Zoo classifications agree well on population properties. The zoobot cross-validation increases confidence in its ability to compliment Galaxy Zoo classifications and its ability for transfer learning across surveys.

OBJECTIVES/GOALS: Culturally Centered Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CCCBT) is a therapeutic approach that acknowledges the effect of cultural values, beliefs, and norms on mental health. Study aims to develop a CCCBT for rural community by enhancing engagement, relevance, and outcomes through culturally tailored interventions, and evaluate its implementation. METHODS/STUDY POPULATION: Diverse mixed methods study with participants ages 18-65 from Partial Hospitalization Program in rural community located in Puerto Rico Mountain region. CCCBT intervention will have a span of 9 consecutive bi-weekly sessions. The study consists of 2 phases: 1. Evaluate intervention acceptability through focus groups (n=12) with repeated measures to learn about enhancing mental health outcomes, 2. Measure intervention effectiveness in reducing mild-moderate depression and anxiety symptoms using validated questionnaires (PHQ-9 and GAD-7) with a 100 participants from same region. Descriptive analysis for sociodemographic characteristics will be used to provide overview of participants characteristics. Qualitative analysis of focus groups will be obtained through feedback and content analysis. RESULTS/ANTICIPATED RESULTS: We anticipate high intervention acceptability through positive participant feedback and cultural relevance feedback from focal groups. We expect to find significant reduction in symptoms of depression and anxiety post-intervention, demonstrating the efficacy of CCCBT in Puerto Rican rural communities. These results will support the feasibility of implementing this approach, addressing mental health disparities, and enhancing treatment engagement and outcomes in underserved populations. The study will inform future research to refine and expand this intervention in rural communities of Hispanics and/or other rural underserved populations in the US. DISCUSSION/SIGNIFICANCE: This study’s success will advance culturally tailored mental health care in underserved rural Puerto Rican communities, reducing disparities and enhancing treatment relevance and engagement, with potential implications for improving mental health outcomes in similar populations in the US and worldwide.

Disordered iron oxide thin-films synthesized from grain-oriented iron foils were grown on both glass and Si (100) n-type substrates by vacuum evaporation followed by thermal oxidation at low temperatures. Defects such as vacancies formation has been studied using Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and Raman Spectroscopy. The kinetic of oxidation as a function of surface parameters was investigated by AFM studies. The vibrational modes (bands) connected with the vacancies formation and magnetic ordering into the iron oxide structure were validated by Raman spectroscopy. Space-charge effects can be influenced by discontinuous growth of iron oxide and correlated with their structure parameters. Finally, the disordered iron oxide will be useful for the next generation of adaptive oxide devices.

We have searched optical u′g′r′i′z′ imaging of 22 deg2 centred on the nearby giant elliptical galaxy NGC 5128 for new dwarf galaxies in the Centaurus A group. We report 45 promising new candidates, which are broadly consistent with the properties of nearby dwarf spheroidal galaxies and extend the size-luminosity relation toward fainter total luminosities and smaller sizes for known dwarf galaxies outside the Local Group (LG). Altogether, these new results show NGC 5128 to be the host of a large reservoir of low-mass dwarf galaxies that is at least as rich as that of the LG and is ripe for detailed follow-up observations.

Demographic and social trends lead to a variety of micro-level and internal structural contexts that influence caregiving in families with older members. The results of macro-level changes have received little focused attention in the aging literature, where much of the caregiving research has addressed issues within the context of traditional family structure. Yet the conventional nuclear family model is increasingly uncommon as new, pluralistic models of family life are emerging in contemporary society. The majority of elder care is provided by relatives, albeit with varying patterns of involvement and responsibility across family structures. Both conventional and pluralistic families face challenges in meeting the care needs of their oldest members, leaving some older adults at risk of having unmet needs. Additional research on family risk and resilience related to the care of older relatives is warranted, particularly with respect to pluralistic models of family life.

The aims of this Working Group are:

• • To ensure that scientific symposia on planetary nebulae take place regularly, ideally every 5 years. These symposia would preferably be sponsored by the IAU;

• • To organize and coordinate the Joint Discussions on the subject at the IAU General Assemblies. These discussions should address topics of interest not only to our Division VI but to other Divisions as well; and

• • To maintain a Web page with general information about the WG, the activities related to planetary nebulae, and the future meetings and symposia.

In both Canada and the United States, adult day services (ADS) are an integral component in the array of long-term care services available. We compared characteristics of programs and participant characteristics in Atlantic Canada, Maine, and Vermont. Directors of 47 ADS programs responded to a mailed survey. Individual ADS programs in each province and state exhibited unique program and participant characteristics. ADS programs in the two countries differed with respect to: affiliation, location, levels of government support, participant fees, organizational sponsorship, hours of operation, months of attendance, and hours attended per day. Participant characteristics that varied between the two countries were educational level, physical needs, and cognitive status. The results of this study provide new comparative information that can be used in guiding future research and program development of ADS.
