Emergency departments are high-risk settings for severe acute respiratory coronavirus virus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) surface contamination. Environmental surface samples were obtained in rooms with patients suspected of having COVID-19 who did or did not undergo aerosol-generating procedures (AGPs). SARS-CoV-2 RNA surface contamination was most frequent in rooms occupied by coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients who received no AGPs.

In recent years, researchers have begun to study the social consequences of conspiracy beliefs. However, little research has investigated the impact of conspiracy beliefs on interpersonal relationships. In this review, we draw attention to this issue by summarizing available empirical evidence and proposing potential social-psychological mechanisms to explain whether and why conspiracy theories affect interpersonal relationships. We firstly discuss that the attitude change that often accompanies the internalization of conspiracy beliefs might distance people’s opinions and, consequently, erode their relationships. Furthermore, we argue that the stigmatizing value of conspiracy theories can negatively affect the evaluation of conspiracy believers and discourage others from getting close to them. Finally, we consider that the misperception of social norms associated with the acceptance of certain conspiracy narratives can lead conspiracy believers to engage in non-normative behavior. Others are likely to perceive such behavior negatively, resulting in diminished interpersonal interaction. We highlight the need for further research to address these issues, as well as the potential factors that may prevent relationships being eroded by conspiracy beliefs.

In recent years, there has been an increasing interest in the consequences of conspiracy theories and the COVID–19 pandemic raised this interest to another level. In this article, I will outline what we know about the consequences of conspiracy theories for individuals, groups, and society, arguing that they are certainly not harmless. In particular, research suggests that conspiracy theories are associated with political apathy, support for non-normative political action, climate denial, vaccine refusal, prejudice, crime, violence, disengagement in the workplace, and reluctance to adhere to COVID–19 recommendations. In this article, I will also discuss the challenges of dealing with the negative consequences of conspiracy theories, which present some opportunities for future research.

The Rapid ASKAP Continuum Survey (RACS) is the first large-area survey to be conducted with the full 36-antenna Australian Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder (ASKAP) telescope. RACS will provide a shallow model of the ASKAP sky that will aid the calibration of future deep ASKAP surveys. RACS will cover the whole sky visible from the ASKAP site in Western Australia and will cover the full ASKAP band of 700–1800 MHz. The RACS images are generally deeper than the existing NRAO VLA Sky Survey and Sydney University Molonglo Sky Survey radio surveys and have better spatial resolution. All RACS survey products will be public, including radio images (with $\sim$ 15 arcsec resolution) and catalogues of about three million source components with spectral index and polarisation information. In this paper, we present a description of the RACS survey and the first data release of 903 images covering the sky south of declination $+41^\circ$ made over a 288-MHz band centred at 887.5 MHz.

Dual implantation of cobalt and iron into silicon (100) wafers and subsequent annealing has been used to form layers containing mixtures of CoSi2 and FeSi2. The structure and properties of the layers were followed by Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (SIMS), cross-sectional transmission electron microscopy (XTEM), Transmission Electron Diffraction (TED), Rutherford Backscattering Spectroscopy (RBS), and photoluminescence (PL). When a high dose of both species was implanted, segregation of the cobalt and iron occurred which for 1000°C anneals, resulted in an epitaxial layer of αFeSi2 upon a CoSi2 layer. The epitaxial quality of both of these layers was superior to those previously fabricated by single species implants. For a low dose cobalt implant followed by a high dose iron implant, a single phase solid solution was formed and segregation did not occur. Photoluminescence at 1.54 urn was observed from this layer, but with a much lower intensity and a broader line width than that from a pure βFeSi2 layer.

Last April, 23 year-old Rudy Linares disconnected his 15-month-old comatose son, Sammy, from the mechanical ventilator that was maintaining the infant's life. He then used a gun to keep hospital staff from interfering while he withdrew the machine, allowing his son to die of acute respiratory failure. The death of this infant stirred great controversy among doctors, nurses, lawyers and ethicists. It also generated much discussion in the news media. The clearest common denominator of this discussion has been the willingness of commentators to advance opinions and interpretations without knowledge of the facts of the case. Some of the opinions have been critical of the hospital, the doctors, and/or the nurses. The present report is not intended to answer such criticism. The report will simply provide the facts and legal opinions as to the case. To the extent this information leads the reader to understand or agree with the management of the case the report will serve as a defense of these actions. To the extent it leads to rejection or criticism of the management, the report will support the detractors.
