Early adversity increases risk for child mental health difficulties. Stressors in the home environment (e.g., parental mental illness, household socioeconomic challenges) may be particularly impactful. Attending out-of-home childcare may buffer or magnify negative effects of such exposures. Using a longitudinal observational design, we leveraged data from the NIH Environmental influences on Child Health Outcomes Program to test whether number of hours in childcare, defined as 1) any type of nonparental care and 2) center-based care specifically, was associated with child mental health, including via buffering or magnifying associations between early exposure to psychosocial and socioeconomic risks (age 0–3 years) and later internalizing and externalizing symptoms (age 3–5.5 years), in a diverse sample of N = 2,024 parent–child dyads. In linear regression models, childcare participation was not associated with mental health outcomes, nor did we observe an impact of childcare attendance on associations between risk exposures and symptoms. Psychosocial and socioeconomic risks had interactive effects on internalizing and externalizing symptoms. Overall, the findings did not indicate that childcare attendance positively or negatively influenced child mental health and suggested that psychosocial and socioeconomic adversity may need to be considered as separate exposures to understand child mental health risk in early life.

We present the Sydney Radio Star Catalogue, a new catalogue of stars detected at megahertz to gigahertz radio frequencies. It consists of 839 unique stars with 3 405 radio detections, more than doubling the previously known number of radio stars. We have included stars from large area searches for radio stars found using circular polarisation searches, cross-matching, variability searches, and proper motion searches as well as presenting hundreds of newly detected stars from our search of Australian SKA Pathfinder observations. The focus of this first version of the catalogue is on objects detected in surveys using SKA precursor and pathfinder instruments; however, we will expand this scope in future versions. The 839 objects in the Sydney Radio Star Catalogue are distributed across the whole sky and range from ultracool dwarfs to Wolf-Rayet stars. We demonstrate that the radio luminosities of cool dwarfs are lower than the radio luminosities of more evolved sub-giant and giant stars. We use X-ray detections of 530 radio stars by the eROSITA soft X-ray instrument onboard the Spectrum Roentgen Gamma spacecraft to show that almost all of the radio stars in the catalogue are over-luminous in the radio, indicating that the majority of stars at these radio frequencies are coherent radio emitters. OBJECTIVES/GOALS: Limited access to medication and poor medication adherence exacerbate chronic diseases following disasters. Experts recommend individuals in disaster-prone areas be prepared to manage their chronic diseases in the event of resource disruption. This study’s goal is to identify factors underlying personal medical preparedness. METHODS/STUDY POPULATION: A cross-sectional survey of 120 insured adults age ≥50 in Southeast Louisiana with hypertension and ≥1 daily medication during the 2023 Atlantic Hurricane Season is underway. The survey includes the Household Emergency Preparedness Index Access and Functional Needs Section (HEPI AFN), a validated measure of medical preparedness that accounts for special circumstances including refrigerated medication and electricity-dependent medical equipment. The mean score of the 9-item tool ranges from 0 to 1, with higher scores indicating more preparedness. The survey also includes 3 open-ended questions where participants can explain difficulties with medication adherence during hurricanes in their own voice. Data collection is ongoing. This interim analysis provides descriptive statistics. RESULTS/ANTICIPATED RESULTS: An interim analysis of the first 50 respondents included 46% women, 52% Black, mean age 61.2 (SD=7.3) years, and mean 52.5 (SD=16.2) years living in a hurricane-impacted area. Participants had a median of 1 comorbid condition; 72% reported taking >5 daily medications. Most respondents (94%) stated their household was at least “somewhat prepared” to handle a disaster and reported medical preparedness on an average of 82% of HEPI-AFN items (mean score = 0.82, SD=0.18); 90% reported that they had never had a healthcare worker talk to them about personal medical preparedness. On open response questions, participants cited insurance restrictions as the primary barrier to having extra medication on hand. In the final sample, regression models will be used to examine factors associated with increased preparedness. DISCUSSION/SIGNIFICANCE: While most participants in this insured, disaster-experienced preliminary sample are medically prepared, few have discussed preparedness with a healthcare provider. Identifying socio-demographic factors associated with preparedness will help to strengthen mitigation strategies addressing widening of health disparities during disasters.

We present a method for identifying radio stellar sources using their proper-motion. We demonstrate this method using the FIRST, VLASS, RACS-low and RACS-mid radio surveys, and astrometric information from Gaia Data Release 3. We find eight stellar radio sources using this method, two of which have not previously been identified in the literature as radio stars. We determine that this method probes distances of $\sim$90pc when we use FIRST and RACS-mid, and $\sim$250pc when we use FIRST and VLASS. We investigate the time baselines required by current and future radio sky surveys to detect the eight sources we found, with the SKA (6.7 GHz) requiring $<$3 yr between observations to find all eight sources. We also identify nine previously known and 43 candidate variable radio stellar sources that are detected in FIRST (1.4 GHz) but are not detected in RACS-mid (1.37 GHz). This shows that many stellar radio sources are variable, and that surveys with multiple epochs can detect a more complete sample of stellar radio sources.

The concept of ‘publicness’ addresses the intersection between people and their physical surroundings, and the ways in which they affect each other in an ongoing process. This point of relational exchange is the core concept behind ‘Public Space in European Social Housing’ (PuSH), a three-year HERA-funded project conducted by a transnational, multidisciplinary team of researchers. Large-scale modernist postwar housing estates, often used for social, cooperative, or mass rental housing, tend to be problematised as places of segregation and disintegration in European cities. Yet they are potentially also primary sites for integration between people of different cultural origins and social backgrounds. By investigating publicness in relation to social housing, including cooperative housing and mass rental housing estates, PuSH aims to better understand how cultural encounters happen, and ultimately to reflect on how integration can be better sustained. In this paper, we take a relational conception of publicness as our point of departure to explore the differentiations and intersections between sites and modes of public life in relation to our approach and the social housing estates we investigate. Moreover, we present our conceptual contribution to the concept of publicness, both theoretically and methodologically using multidisciplinary theories and methodologies, and four analytical categories: heritage, practices/policies, democracy, informality, and moreover exhibitions are used as a research tool. This paper is a collaborative output whereby different researchers on the project present their theoretical developments and positions, identify the analytical categories and theoretical vocabularies on which they daw, and reflect on potential ways in which these concepts can be operationalised, and on the synergies that may develop between them. Taken together, our approach offers significant interpretations of publicness in relation to questions of public space, and tackles some of the most pronounced tensions in discussions of public space.
