This study elucidated the impacts of coenzyme Q10 (COQ10) supplementation in a high-fat diet (HFD) on growth, lipid metabolism and mitochondrial function in spotted seabass (Lateolabrax maculatus). Totally five diets were formulated: a diet with normal fat content (11 % lipid, NFD), a HFD (17 % lipid) and three additional diets by supplementing 5, 20 or 80 mg/kg of COQ10 to the HFD. After an 8-week culture period, samples were collected and analysed. The results demonstrated that COQ10 inclusion prevented the HFD-induced deterioration of growth performance and feed utilisation. COQ10 alleviated the deposition of saturated fatty acids following HFD intake and promoted the assimilation of n-3 and n-6 PUFA. Moreover, COQ10 administration inhibited the surge in serum transaminase activity and reduced hepatic lipid content following HFD ingestion, which was consistent with the results of oil red O staining. In addition, HFD feeding led to reduced hepatic citrate synthase and succinate dehydrogenase activities and decreased ATP content. Notably, COQ10 administration improved these indices and up-regulated the expression of mitochondrial biogenesis-related genes (pgc-1α, pgc-1β, nrf-1, tfam) and autophagy-related genes (pink1, mul1, atg5). In summary, supplementing 20–80 mg/kg of COQ10 in the HFD promoted growth performance, alleviated hepatic fat accumulation and enhanced liver mitochondrial function in spotted seabass.
The study aimed to determine the patterns of the vestibular and ocular motor findings in cerebellar infarction (CI).
Methods:
We retrospectively analyzed vestibular and ocular motor test results in 23 CI patients and 32 acute unilateral vestibulopathy (AUVP) patients.
Results:
Among CI cases, the posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA) was the most commonly affected territory. Vertigo is predominantly observed in patients with infarctions affecting PICA or anterior inferior cerebellar artery (AICA). Lesions involving the superior cerebellar artery (SCA) mainly result in dizziness. Saccadic intrusion and oscillation, abnormal bilateral smooth pursuit (SP) and abnormal saccades were more prevalent in the CI group than in the AUVP group (all p < 0.05). Horizontal saccades were abnormal in 11 patients (47.8%) with CI. All AUVP patients had normal horizontal saccades. Horizontal SP was impaired in 13 patients (56.5%) with CI, with decreased gain toward both sides in 10 and toward 1 side in 3. Impaired horizontal SP was noted in nine patients (28.1%) with AUVP, with decreased gain toward the contralesional side in all cases. A total of 26.3% (5/19) of patients with CI exhibited subjective visual vertical (SVV) deviation toward the affected side and 31.6% (6/19) toward the unaffected side. In patients with AUVP, 70.0% (21/30) showed SVV deviation toward the affected side.
Conclusions:
Vertigo is mainly seen in PICA or AICA infarctions. SCA lesions mostly cause dizziness. Saccadic intrusion and oscillation, abnormal bilateral SP and abnormal saccades contribute to the diagnosis of CI. Moreover, SVV deviation varies depending on the cerebellar structures involved.
Rhopalosiphum padi is an important grain pest, causing severe losses during crop production. As a systemic insecticide, flonicamid can control piercing-sucking pests efficiently. In our study, the lethal effects of flonicamid on the biological traits of R. padi were investigated via a life table approach. Flonicamid is highly efficiently toxic to R. padi, with an LC50 of 9.068 mg L−1. The adult longevity and fecundity of the R. padi F0 generation were markedly reduced under the LC25 and LC50 concentrations of flonicamid exposure. In addition, negative transgenerational effects on R. padi were observed under exposure to lethal concentrations of flonicamid, with noticeable decreases in the reproductive period, adult longevity, total longevity, and total fecundity of the F1 generation under the LC25 concentration of flonicamid. Furthermore, the third nymph stage (N3), preadult stage, duration of the adult pre-reproductive period, duration of the total pre-reproductive period, reproductive period, adult longevity, total longevity, and total fecundity of the F1 generation were significantly lower under treatment with the LC50 concentration of flonicamid. The life table parameters were subsequently analysed, revealing that the intrinsic rate of increase (rm) and the net reproductive rate (R0) were significantly lower but that the finite rate of increase (λ) and the mean generation time (T) were not significantly different under the LC25 and LC50 concentrations of flonicamid. These data are beneficial for grain aphid control and are critical for exploring the role of flonicamid in the integrated management of this key pest.
Parkinson disease (PD) is a neurological disorder that affects more than 10 million people worldwide, impacting both quality of life and marital relationships. Divorce rates are higher in Western compared to Eastern countries. However, it is unclear if there are differences in marital status after PD onset between the two regions.
Methods:
We searched MEDLINE and Embase from inception to March 31, 2024. Original studies discussing marital status in participants with PD were included. An unmarried status includes single, widowed, divorced or separated. Outcomes included the prevalence of being unmarried, measured as proportions, and the risk ratio (RR) of being unmarried in participants with PD relative to controls.
Results:
Out of 567 studies screened initially, 55 studies involving 3,723,966 participants were included. The prevalence of being unmarried was evaluated in 55 studies (25.16%; 95% CI: 21.52–29.18). The prevalence of being unmarried was significantly higher in countries in the West compared to the East (28.83%; 95% CI: 25.09–32.89 vs 17.47%; 95% CI: 12.10–24.57, p < 0.01). Compared to controls, the risk of being unmarried in PD participants after the onset of PD was significantly higher in the East (RR: 1.21, 95% CI: 0.91–1.60) compared to the West (RR: 0.87, 95% CI: 0.65–1.15).
Conclusions:
Our meta-analysis showed significantly higher rates of being unmarried in Western compared to Eastern countries. After PD onset, participants in the East were at significantly higher risk of being unmarried compared to participants in the West, suggesting that differences in cultural practices, societal norms and healthcare systems may affect marital status outcomes in PD participants.
Inclisiran is approved in Singapore as an add-on to maximally tolerated statins for the treatment of primary hypercholesterolemia or mixed dyslipidemia. This study evaluated the cost effectiveness of inclisiran compared with standard care (SC), evolocumab, or alirocumab to treat primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia.
Methods
A lifetime Markov model was used to evaluate the cost effectiveness of inclisiran as an add-on to SC (inclisiran+SC) versus SC alone, evolocumab+SC, or alirocumab+SC in four subpopulations: atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD), secondary prevention of heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HeFH), primary prevention of HeFH, and primary prevention in patients with an elevated risk of ASCVD Baseline cardiovascular event risks were estimated from databases and published literature from the Netherlands and the UK. Efficacy data were obtained from the ORION trials and other comparative trials. Costs were obtained from public healthcare institutions and local publications. A willingness-to-pay (WTP) threshold of SGD45,000 (USD33,280) per quality-adjusted life-year (QALY) was selected, and a one-way deterministic sensitivity analysis (DSA) was performed.
Results
Inclisiran+SC resulted in higher QALYs and higher total costs than SC alone in all four subpopulations, with incremental cost-effectiveness ratios (ICERs) ranging from SGD34,654 to SGD163,158 (USD25,630 to USD120,673) per QALY gained. At the selected WTP threshold, inclisiran+SC was cost effective, compared with SC, in patients with ASCVD and for secondary prevention of HeFH. Compared with evolocumab+SC and alirocumab+SC, inclisiran+SC achieved higher total QALYs at a lower total cost in all four subpopulations. The ICER was most sensitive to the price and efficacy of inclisiran and the rate ratios translating reductions in low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels to the risk of cardiovascular death.
Conclusions
Inclisiran+SC resulted in greater QALYs and higher costs, compared with SC alone, and higher QALYs at lower costs, compared with evolocumab+SC and alirocumab+SC, in adults with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. At the selected WTP threshold, inclisiran+SC was cost effective, compared with SC alone, in patients with ASCVD and for secondary prevention of HeFH. These findings can help inform future funding decisions in Singapore.
In this paper, we provide a theoretical framework justifying the existence of a correlation risk premium in a market with two traded assets. We prove that risk-neutral dependence can differ substantially from real-world dependence by characterizing the set of risk-neutral martingale measures. This implies that implied correlation can be significantly different with the realized correlation. Depending on the choice of the market regarding the pricing measure, implied correlation can be high or low. We label the difference between risk-neutral and real-world correlation the “correlation gap” and make the connection with correlation risk premium. We show how dispersion trading can be used to exploit this correlation gap and demonstrate how there can exist a negative correlation risk premium in the financial market.
This study aims to evaluate the impact of low-carbohydrate diet, balanced dietary guidance and pharmacotherapy on weight loss among individuals with overweight or obesity over a period of 3 months. The study involves 339 individuals with overweight or obesity and received weight loss treatment at the Department of Clinical Nutrition at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University, School of Medicine, between 1 January 2020 and 31 December 2023. The primary outcome is the percentage weight loss. Among the studied patients, the majority chose low-carbohydrate diet as their primary treatment (168 (49·56 %)), followed by balanced dietary guidance (139 (41·00 %)) and pharmacotherapy (32 (9·44 %)). The total percentage weight loss for patients who were followed up for 1 month, 2 months and 3 months was 4·98 (3·04, 6·29) %, 7·93 (5·42, 7·93) % and 10·71 (7·74, 13·83) %, respectively. Multivariable logistic regression analysis identified low-carbohydrate diet as an independent factor associated with percentage weight loss of ≥ 3 % and ≥ 5 % at 1 month (OR = 0·461, P < 0·05; OR = 0·349, P < 0·001). The results showed that a low-carbohydrate diet was an effective weight loss strategy in the short term. However, its long-term effects were comparable to those observed with balanced dietary guidance and pharmacotherapy.
This paper retrospectively analysed the prevalence of macrolide-resistant Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MRMP) in some parts of China. Between January 2013 and December 2019, we collected 4,145 respiratory samples, including pharyngeal swabs and alveolar lavage fluid. The highest PCR-positive rate of M. pneumoniae was 74.5% in Beijing, the highest resistance rate was 100% in Shanghai, and Gansu was the lowest with 20%. The highest PCR-positive rate of M. pneumoniae was 74.5% in 2013, and the highest MRMP was 97.4% in 2019; the PCR-positive rate of M. pneumoniae for adults in Beijing was 17.9% and the MRMP was 10.48%. Among the children diagnosed with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP), the PCR-positive and macrolide-resistant rates of M. pneumoniae were both higher in the severe ones. A2063G in domain V of 23S rRNA was the major macrolide-resistant mutation, accounting for more than 90%. The MIC values of all MRMP to erythromycin and azithromycin were ≥ 64 μg/ml, and the MICs of tetracycline and levofloxacin were ≤ 0.5 μg/ml and ≤ 1 μg/ml, respectively. The macrolide resistance varied in different regions and years. Among inpatients, the macrolide-resistant rate was higher in severe pneumonia. A2063G was the common mutation, and we found no resistance to tetracycline and levofloxacin.
This study aimed to evaluate the methodological quality of existing meta-analyses (MA) and the quality of evidence for outcome indicators to provide an updated overview of the evidence concerning the therapeutic efficacy of the Mediterranean diet (MD) for various types of CVD.
Design:
We conducted comprehensive searches of PubMed, Cochrane Library, and Embase databases. The quality of the MA was assessed using the A Measurement Tool to Assess Systematic Reviews 2 (AMSTAR 2) checklist, while the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) evidence evaluation system was employed to evaluate the quality of evidence for significant outcomes.
Setting:
The CVD remains a significant contributor to global mortality. Multiple MA have consistently demonstrated the efficacy of medical interventions in managing CVD. However, due to variations in the scope, quality and outcomes of these reviews, definitive conclusions are yet to be established.
Participants:
This study included five randomized trials and twelve non-randomized studies, with a combined participant population of 716 318.
Results:
The AMSTAR 2 checklist revealed that 54·55 % of the studies demonstrated high quality, while 9·09 % exhibited low quality, and 36·36 % were deemed critically low quality. Additionally, there was moderate evidence supporting a positive correlation between MD and CHD/acute myocardial infarction, stroke, heart failure, cardiovascular events, coronary events and major adverse cardiovascular events.
Conclusions:
This study indicates that although recognizing the potential efficacy of MD in managing CVD, the quality of the methodology and the evidence for the outcome indicators remain unsatisfactory.
Conceptual metaphor theory (CMT) holds that most conceptual metaphors are processed unconsciously. However, whether multiple words can be integrated into a holistic metaphoric sentence without consciousness remains controversial in cognitive science and psychology. This study aims to investigate the role of consciousness in processing Chinese nominal metaphoric sentences ‘A是B’ (A is[like] B) with a psychophysical experimental paradigm referred to as breaking continuous flash suppression (b-CFS). We manipulated sentence types (metaphoric, literal and anomalous) and word forms (upright, inverted) in a two-staged experiment (CFS and non-CFS). No difference was found in the breakthrough times among all three types of sentences in the CFS stage, while literal sentences were detected more slowly than either metaphoric or anomalous sentences in the non-CFS stage. The results suggest that the integration of multiple words may not succeed without the participation of consciousness, let alone metaphoric processing. These findings may redefine ‘unconscious’ in CMT as ‘preconscious’ and support the indirect access view regarding how the metaphoric meaning is processed in the brain.
Klebsiella pneumoniae are common pathogens causing bloodstream infection (BSI) that increasingly express carbapenem resistance worldwide. To date, no study has precisely investigated the impact of carbapenem resistance in K. pneumoniae (CRKP) BSI on mortality.
Methods:
This retrospective study included 87 patients with CRKP BSI and 321 patients with carbapenem-susceptible K. pneumoniae (CSKP) BSI from 2015 to 2020. Propensity score analyses with stabilized inverse probability of treatment weighting (IPTW-S) was applied to balance covariates. The hazard ratio for 30-day mortality associated with carbapenem resistance was estimated using Cox regression and Kaplan-Meier curves.
Results:
The 30-day crude mortality rates were 43.7% in patients with CRKP BSI and 17.8% in patients with CSKP BSI (P < .001). Age ≥55 years, underlying hematological malignancies and hemodialysis were independently associated with mortality in CRKP BSI. A skin or soft-tissue infection source, urinary catheter, and underlying chronic obstructive pulmonary disease were predictors of mortality in CSKP BSI. The group characteristics were well balanced after IPTW-S. The adjusted hazard ratio for 30-day mortality for CRKP BSI was 1.607 (interquartile range, 0.814–3.171).
Conclusions:
Carbapenem resistance was not associated with a significant increase in 30-day mortality in KP BSI; patient and disease factors were primary determinants of outcomes.
Incarceration is a significant social determinant of health, contributing to high morbidity, mortality, and racialized health inequities. However, incarceration status is largely invisible to health services research due to inadequate clinical electronic health record (EHR) capture. This study aims to develop, train, and validate natural language processing (NLP) techniques to more effectively identify incarceration status in the EHR.
Methods:
The study population consisted of adult patients (≥ 18 y.o.) who presented to the emergency department between June 2013 and August 2021. The EHR database was filtered for notes for specific incarceration-related terms, and then a random selection of 1,000 notes was annotated for incarceration and further stratified into specific statuses of prior history, recent, and current incarceration. For NLP model development, 80% of the notes were used to train the Longformer-based and RoBERTa algorithms. The remaining 20% of the notes underwent analysis with GPT-4.
Results:
There were 849 unique patients across 989 visits in the 1000 annotated notes. Manual annotation revealed that 559 of 1000 notes (55.9%) contained evidence of incarceration history. ICD-10 code (sensitivity: 4.8%, specificity: 99.1%, F1-score: 0.09) demonstrated inferior performance to RoBERTa NLP (sensitivity: 78.6%, specificity: 73.3%, F1-score: 0.79), Longformer NLP (sensitivity: 94.6%, specificity: 87.5%, F1-score: 0.93), and GPT-4 (sensitivity: 100%, specificity: 61.1%, F1-score: 0.86).
Conclusions:
Our advanced NLP models demonstrate a high degree of accuracy in identifying incarceration status from clinical notes. Further research is needed to explore their scaled implementation in population health initiatives and assess their potential to mitigate health disparities through tailored system interventions.
We report infrared spectroscopic observations of the incorporation of CO2 into pyrophyllite that has been heated between 200°C and 1250°C for periods of 15 min, 1 h and 5 days. The presence of CO2 is characterized by the ν3 band of CO2 near 2347 cm−1, detectable in samples in which dehydroxylation has commenced after heating above 450°C. With increasing temperature, the CO2 signal becomes more intense. The signal reaches its maximum intensity near 800°C with an annealing time of 15 min. Further heating leads to a decrease in the CO2 signal and the occurrence of an extra signal near 2156 cm−1 that implies the presence of CO. The process is characterized by significant time-dependence, indicating its kinetic nature. The peak positions of CO2 signals show systematic variations with temperature. Our results suggest that the CO2 molecule is associated with the local structure rather than being present as free gaseous CO2, and that the local structure of pyrophyllite is gradually modified during high-temperature treatments. However, no signals related to carbonate molecules () were detected. The results suggest that CO2 or other carbon-based molecules may diffuse into some clay minerals during dehydroxylation and may become altered due to structural modifications at high temperatures. This may have significance for possible CO2 sequestration in shales and clay formations.
Landfill leachate is one of the most difficult effluents with which to deal from an environmental perspective because of its concentration and complex composition, including refractory and toxic components such as heavy metals or xenobiotic organic compounds. The objective of the present study was to use organically modified bentonite (OMB) to dispose of landfill leachate >10 y old. The OMB was synthesized using a new method, which removed four steps (filtering, washing, drying, and grinding) from the traditional process. After treatment using OMB, the chemical oxygen demand concentration (COD concentration, an index of the organic pollutants in the landfill leachate, was determined using the potassium dichromate method) of the landfill leachate sample decreased from 2400 to 245 mg/L in 5 h, i.e. the organic pollutants reduction efficiency was as high as 90%. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry results indicated that most of the organic compounds were removed during the process. The modified and unmodified bentonite contained in the OMB deal with the hydrophobic and hydrophilic organic pollutants, respectively, resulting in significant degradation of the leachate. The study results have provided a new cost-effective method for treatment of landfill leachate.
The thermally-induced dehydroxylation and transformations of the 2:1 phyllosilicate pyrophyllite have been studied using infrared spectroscopy in the frequency range 350–11000 cm−1 and the temperature range 200–1500°C. The dehydroxylation of pyrophyllite to pyrophyllite dehydroxylate occurs between 500 and 900°C. It is characterized by a decrease in the intensity of the OH signals and phonon bands of pyrophyllite and the eventual disappearance of these features as well as the appearance of extra signals related to pyrophyllite dehydroxylate and an intermediate phase. Our results are consistent with previous observations that the SiO4 tetrahedral sheet structure still exists in pyrophyllite dehydroxylate, that the Si-O-Al linkages and 2:1 structure remain in the pyrophyllite dehydroxylate, and that AlO5 trigonal bipyramids form.
Two extra OH bands at 3690 and 3702 cm−1 and their overtones at 7208 and 7234 cm−1 are observed, for the first time, in samples annealed at the temperature range 550–900°C. Our results suggest that the formation and dehydroxylation of the extra OH species can be strongly affected by kinetic effects. The experimental evidence shows that the dehydroxylation of pyrophyllite is a two-stage process. The appearance of these additional OH bands is interpreted in terms of an unknown intermediate phase, and may be related to the second endothermic peak observed at high temperatures in DTA experiments. Pyrophyllite dehydroylate decomposes into a Si-rich amorphous phase and mullite in the temperature range 950–1100°C. Cristobalite is observed in the temperature range 1150–1500°C.
The passive film of reinforcing steel in marine concrete is damaged by the infiltration of chloride and sulfate ions. Layered double hydroxide (LDH) can adsorb anions and release interlayer ions to form passive films due to its ion exchange property. A Mg-Al-NO3 layered double hydroxide/montmorillonite (LDH/Mnt) composite inhibitor was prepared by layer-by-layer self-assembly (LBL) of LDH and Mnt. The structure and morphology of the LDH/Mnt composites were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), laser Raman spectroscopy, N2-adsorption/desorption measurements, and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The LDH/Mnt composites, as inhibitors of chloride ions and sulfate ions, exhibited high slow-release efficiency. The mass ratio of LDH and Mnt affected the curing capacity of the synthesized composites, and the optimum mass ratio was LDH/Mnt = 1:1 for which slow-release efficiency reached 94.16%.
Soil aggregates consist of sand, silt, and clay size particles. Many of the clay size particles in soils are clay minerals, which actively influence soil behavior. The properties of clay minerals may change significantly as soil particle size decreases to the nanoscale; however, little information is available about these properties for the Ultisols in China. In the present study, the clay mineral components and structural characteristics of four particle-size fractions (i.e., <2000, 450–2000, 100–450, and 25–100 nm) of two Ultisol samples (Ult-1 and Ult-2) were investigated using elemental analysis, X-ray diffraction, Fouriertransform infrared spectroscopy, and thermal analysis. The molar SiO2 to Al2O3 ratios were lower in the nanoscale particle-size fraction (25–100 nm) than in the 450–2000 and <2000 nm fractions. This indicates greater desilicification and allitization of the smaller Ultisol particles. Furthermore, the Fe oxide and Al oxide contents increased and reached a maximum level in the 25–100 nm fraction of the two Ultisols. Goethite was mainly found in the 100–450 nm and 25–100 nm fractions. The dominant clay minerals in the Ultisol 25–100 nm fraction were kaolinite and illite with a small amount of a hydroxy-interlayered mineral in Ult-1 and gibbsite in Ult-2. The kaolinite crystallinity decreased as particle size decreased. The low crystallinity of the kaolinite in the A horizon 25–100 nm fraction was attributed to a reduction in the thickness of coherent scattering domains, as well as to decreases in OH groups and the dimensions of octahedral AlO6 sheets. A determination of the chemical and mineralogic properties of the different size fractions of the Ultisols is important to understand the desilicification and Al and Fe oxide enrichment mechanisms during soil formation. The significance of these results can help to reveal the nanoscale transformations of clay minerals. Analysis of clay mineral compositions in nanoparticles can provide the additional data needed to understand the adsorption and mobility of nutrients and pollutants.
Two-dimensional montmorillonite nanolayers (2D Mnt) are excellent adsorbents for methylene blue due to the fully exposed active sites, but the separation of 2D Mnt from water is difficult. The objective of the present study was to assemble 2D Mnt and graphene oxide sheets into a three-dimensional aerogel (3D Mnt-rGO Gel) to achieve easy solid–liquid separation. Structural characterization demonstrated that the Mnt-rGO Gel has a porous 3D structure with Mnt nanolayers distributed uniformly within; the introduction of 2D Mnt could reduce significantly the degree of restacking of graphene sheets. Adsorption tests indicated that 2D Mnt enhances the methylene blue (MB) removal performance of Mnt-rGO Gel with a large adsorption capacity of 207 mg g–1, which may be attributed to the adsorption of MB onto 2D Mnt and the increased adsorption surface of rGO resulting from the reduced restacking of graphene sheets. The MB was removed completely by 300 mg L–1 of Mnt-rGO Gel-3 in 180 min. The adsorption process of MB onto Mnt-rGO Gel followed the pseudo-second order kinetic model and the Langmuir isotherm model. Mnt-rGO Gel also showed good reusability. Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) results suggested that the adsorption of MB onto Mnt-rGO Gel may be attributed to the π–π interactions between aromatic rings of MB and graphene, hydrogen bonding, and the electrostatic interactions between the nitrogen groups on the MB and oxygen-containing groups on the Mnt-rGO Gel.
Reaction of a Mg-Al carbonate layered double hydroxide (LDH) with boric acid leads to a borate-pillared LDH with the stoichiometry [Mg0.65Al0.35(OH)2][B3O5]0.35.0.65H2O and an interlayer spacing of 1.07 nm. Infrared and 11B magic angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance data are consistent with the presence of polymeric triborate anions of the type [B3O4(OH)2]nn- in the interlayer galleries so that the material can be formulated as [Mg0.65Al0.35(OH)2][B3O4(OH)2]0.35.0.30H2O. The flame-retardant properties of the borate-pillared material and the carbonate precursor in composites with ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer were compared. Introduction of the borate anion leads to a significant enhancement in smoke suppression during combustion without compromising the flammability of the material. This is related to the synergistic effect between the host layers of the LDH and the borate anions uniformly distributed in the interlayer region.
The fast pace of modern life and work competition has led to an increase in the incidence rate of depression year by year. In recent years, Mongolian medicine has achieved good results in the treatment of depression. Research on the production of Mongolian medicine group based on Qiwei Guangzao pill to explore its therapeutic effect on moderate depression.
Subjects and Methods
The study selected 70 patients with moderate depression and randomly divided them into an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group received Mongolian medicine based on Qiwei Guangzao pills in the morning, middle, and evening, supplemented by droperidol and melitracen tablets; The control group only received oral administration of flupentixol and melitracin tablets. The treatment course was 4 weeks, and the patient’s status was evaluated by Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) score. SPSS25.0 software was used for statistical analysis of the data obtained.
Results
Compared to the control group, the rehabilitation rate of patients in the experimental group was 14.3%, and the proportion of patients with significant treatment effects was 45.8%. The total effective rate was about 91.4%, indicating that the improvement of HAMD scores in the experimental group was higher than that in the control group.
Conclusions
The experimental results show that the Mongolian medicine group based on Qiwei Guangzao pill has a significant therapeutic effect on moderate depression, and can effectively improve patients’ sleep status and gastrointestinal symptoms.
