ASA selects three Press titles for 2018 awards

The American Sociological Association (ASA) has recognized three Press titles in 2018 for their quality and significance to their fields of study.

Latino Mass Mobilization: Immigration, Racialization, and Activism by Chris Zepeda-Millán and Egypt in a Time of Revolution: Contentious Politics and the Arab Spring by Neil Ketchley were jointly awarded the Charles Tilly Distinguished Contribution to Scholarship Book Award.

Established in 1986 to honor a significant contribution, the award recognizes a publication that has added to the field. A Cambridge University Press title, Meaningful Resistance: Market Reforms and the Roots of Social Protest in Latin America by Erica Simmons, also won this award in 2017.

Multinational Maids: Stepwise Migration in a Global Labor Market by Anju Mary Paul was also selected as the winner in two categories, both the Thomas and Znaniecki Best Book Award and the Max Weber Award for Distinguished Scholarship.

The Thomas and Znaniecki Award is given annually for outstanding social science scholarship in the field of international migration to a book published within the previous 2 years. The Max Weber Award for Distinguished Scholarship is granted for an outstanding contribution to scholarship on organizations, occupations, and/or work in a book published within the last three years.
