16 Press authors elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences

The American Academy of Arts and Sciences has elected 16 Press authors as part of its 2020 class.

The more than 250 new members join the company of Benjamin Franklin, Alexander Hamilton, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Maria Mitchell, Robert Frost, Martha Graham, Margaret Mead, Milton Friedman, and Martin Luther King, Jr. in the Academy.

The American Academy of Arts & Sciences was founded in 1780 by John Adams, John Hancock, and others who believed the United States should honor exceptionally accomplished individuals and engage them in advancing the public good.
