Join Christina Cavage, Series Consultant for Prism Reading, for a webinar on how to engage learners inside and outside of the classroom. Christina applies her experience as professor of ESL at Savannah College of Art and Design to the digital age. In this webinar Christina explores how to meet your digital natives’ needs and easily assess their learning through the use of collaborative, task-based assessments.

Studies show that learners today have different thinking patterns to the learners of just 20 years ago. Digital natives have grown up in an interactive world and so have non-linear thinking patterns, jumping from thought to thought. Teaching must be more interactive than ever in order keep students engaged in this digital age. In this webinar, Christina explores the 3 strand approach to learner engagement:

  • Cognitive engagement; how students are developing in their learning.
  • Behavioural engagement; how students are engaging inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Relational engagement; how students are relating classroom content to the real world.

The 4 Cs Approach: Road to Engagement

Christina explores how these 3 engagement needs can be be fulfilled by the Road to Engagement. The Road to Engagement features the 4 Cs of engaging teaching: communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity. Teaching learners through the 4 Cs approach creates an interactive and engaging learning environment, setting students up with a strong base to develop their cognitive, behavioural and relational skills.

In the webinar, Christina explains the importance of the 4 Cs and how each of these are supported within Prism Reading, fulfilling the needs of your digital native English language learners.
