Capacity crowds flock to sold out Press events at Cheltenham

Press authors enjoyed sold-out shows at this year’s Cheltenham Literature Festival which took place from Friday 2 to Sunday 11 October.

Now in its 66^th year and with over 500 author events, the world’s most prestigious literature festival sees tens of thousands of booklovers flock to the Gloucestershire Spa town.

Rubbing shoulders with this year’s headliners, including Ronnie Wood, Salman Rushdie, Nick Frost, Chrissie Hynde and Bill Bryson, were Paul Wallace, author of The Euro Experiment (published next month) and Carolin Duttlinger, author of The Cambridge Introduction to Franz Kafka.

Paul was in Cheltenham to discuss themes from his forthcoming book with economist, Vicky Pryce, and Sunday Times’ economics editor, David Smith and chairing the panel was BBC’s Paddy O’Connell. Billed as ‘Grexit, Brexit and Beyond’ the debate took place in the festival’s largest venue, Cheltenham Town Hall, and it was  a full house.

Meanwhile, reflecting the festival’s Germanic theme this year, Carolin Duttlinger gave an illuminating talk on the life and work of Franz Kafka and took questions from a clearly clued-up audience before heading over to the festival bookstore to sign copies of her book.
