Originally published in 1889, this book by the highly esteemed Orientalist Ernest Wallis Budge is an edition of the Syriac version of the text by Pseudo-Callisthenes on the life of Alexander the Great, one of the earliest histories of the great Macedonian general. Also included are a brief biography of Alexander, an assessment of the varying versions of the Alexander story, and a copy of the Syriac source text with scholarly footnotes and comparisons among the various manuscripts.
