It's shaped by unique insights from our extensive research and expertise, all to enable teachers to do what they do best - teach - and learners to reach their full potential.
Students can explore a range of captivating topics, from empires of the world to all-time greatest inventions, giving them a positive and motivating reading experience.
From blizzards to mummies, sharks and sports, these readers will inspire students' curiosity and develop their reading and critical thinking skills, whatever their interests or language level.
Our Readers reinforce learning by building on students’ knowledge of other subjects, including science, geography and history, as well as sports and the natural world.
Each reader comes with high-quality Discovery Education™ videos, chosen to appeal to teenagers, enhance understanding and build interest. Students can watch independently at home, or in class.
Some of our Readers dive deep into the cultures of a single country, like Alaska or Japan, and others explore topics across cultures, such as Traditions of Death and Extreme Homes. Students can discover more about the people of the world around them, while ‘what do you think?’ chapters encourage critical thinking and discussion.
Each Reader comes with access to the Cambridge Learner Management System, with audio, video, and interactive activities. The readers themselves are available online, while the printed readers come with online access codes for the interactive version
Levelled readers make it easy to choose the right readers for you.
We have created paired readers with interrelated themes to reinforce learning and expand students’ understanding of the topics. From food and drink, to the science of light, heat and darkness, learners can explore themes from multiple different angles.
Topics teens are most interested in, carefully calibrated by the English Vocabulary Profile and analysed against the Lexile Framework for Reading help create a library of readers that are a perfect fit for learners of all levels. Our levelled Readers, from A1 to B2+, can be chosen to align with topics covered in the course books to expand on interesting topics and reinforce language learnt.
Research has shown that there is a direct correlation between the amount students read and their future success.
By establishing good reading habits and encouraging the use of critical thinking while reading, students will be set on a path that will pay huge dividends. When students are frequently given the opportunity to select reading material that appeals to their interest and offers the appropriate level of challenge, they are more likely to continue to do so, well beyond their years at school.
Critical thinking activities encourage students to reflect on and discuss ideas, giving them confidence to talk about many different subjects in English. Topics include science, history, space travel, culture and much more!
